LHGCL byes and qualifying tournament

It’s cool. I think my daughter guested before you were on the team but Evans had a massive bench and still invited guest players. It was awkward for the guest players, honestly.

That’s strange. He never did that when I was on the team. Can’t speak to that specific situation, but yea, it would be awkward. Lol

This is true.  I would just chalk it up to good fortune as a Samba parent the way the schedule played out. Not even sure if they actually faced the newly formed “top” FCD team and if so it was about 1 week into its existence

This is all so entertaining. Salsa only used the Samba keeper because Salsa had no keeper. I believe that is way different than just using Samba players to make Salsa win. Also the Voutier player guest played with Samba because we were trying to recruit her, but she was a Cosmos Black player , not Voutier. She guest played with them after us, and decided to go with Voutier. FYI! Samba goalie is a late 09.

Now helping a team qualify for Lake highlands makes zero sense, you arent helping the team when they cant guest play anymore. I am glad the rules are written that way. Anyways most of the guesting gets done during tournament time. Again who really gives a shit at the end of the day. We all have great teams and players and mostly great parents.

Well, it doesn’t matter whose player she was. The fact is that Samba should not say that they don’t believe in using guest players. My point is that all teams use guest players for one reason or another.

She is a great player for sure

Guesting players takes game time away from paying customers. You know, the ones that were actually recruited by the coach and pay dues? That's the opposite of developing. It creates doubt, decreases confidence. No development occurs on the the bench and if you believe it does, you're an Eskimo that buys ice.

Why do we never see a bench player being guested? Hmmmm, could it be because the coach wants to win? Winning is great and makes the game fun, but let's not pretend guesting is not about winning games. It's wrong because it comes at the cost of players that actually pay for "coaching" and end up watching the guest player steal their time on the field.

Some coaches do it more than others and it's probably pressure from the head of the clubs. It's sad to see the coaches lose their integrity over winning a 9yo soccer game.

I don’t think Samba has issued a blanket team statement on guest players. Individuals have opinions. Recruiting a player seems like a pretty legit reason to guest play to me. Filling in for an injury, also legit. That’s MY opinion. I’m not speaking for the team my daughter plays on nor am I casting aspersions on any other team.

@offsides...lol..lol..”Proud of Samba earning their Bye”. There was some help from a Samba parent getting them to be the 2nd seed. The rankings/seeding were ridiculous from the start. There’s no way they were/are #2. This blog/site, whatever you want to call it, is run/monitored by a Samba parent, he/she made sure they were seeded in a perfect spot and the surrounding teams that would give them any challenge(s) were in the spot/ranking that worked for a Samba bye. Hahaha. When can parents teach their kids to work for something and not have it given to them on a silver plate?!? This site is a joke.

Dont be jealous I am sure your team will qualify but if you are worried bring your daughter out if she is talented enough we have a spot in fact if she is better than mine she deserves her spot.. I can also bring mine out to your practice she wont be joining but she likes to make new friends.. I just asked her and she said sure. She is asking which team like seriously she is fired up it is her little life. Thanks for making her smile.

@offsides - Hahaha. No jealousy here, my daughters team has already qualified as well. We couldn’t be happier where were at, thanks for the offer though. I heard you guys were looking for some more players. What’s her name/ #? We’ll make sure to say hi at the next match up in the fall.

Just to confirm, are you saying being bracketed with Grado and Angelone is being handed a bye on a silver platter? I’m confused.
