Coronavirus Thread
Upcoming "major" tournaments in California and Las Vegas and Virginia have already canceled. The foreign travel ban announced tonight almost certainly means the upcoming Dallas Cup and DIGC are going to be missing many of the teams that are currently committed. It seems unlikely those tournaments go on as scheduled.
I would think transmission risk is low for a regular local league game, but it isn't hard to see the possibility of leagues that are currently in full swing (high school, DA, Lake Highlands, etc.) taking the path of "an abundance of caution" and suspending or canceling games.
There doesn't yet seem to be an appropriate balance between overreaction and logic with this whole thing, and I certainly don't have any suggestions for where to draw that line when soccer is obviously a minor thing when placed against the backdrop of what appears to be a serious health threat.
Anybody want to speculate on what the next few weeks and months of soccer are going to look like?

I guess there is nothing to do for a few weeks but speculate on whether the Solar girls should have 1 DA team in each age group next year or 2 ECNL teams (and whether or not FC Dallas may do the same, effective killing the Frontier GDA Conference).

Tryout season is probably a bust? Putting together teams for the fall is going to be quite difficult, especially for ages starting U11 and U13 play (10s and 08s) where rosters expand and there is usually a lot of movement.

Of course we will. I assume your point is that it’s irrelevant in the big picture of what is happening in the world right now, and you’re 100% right.
But this place is a distraction from that, and it’s ok to talk about such things. Perhaps even helpful.
