Sting Austin -4 Tulsa
Celtic -3 Classics Elite
Sting Austin -3 Celtic
Tulsa -2 Classics Elite
With only two teams making the playoffs in this age group, Sting Austin is the only team in action this weekend with a chance to participate. Will be very important for teams with designs on a playoff spot to not drop points against bottom-half-of the-table teams. The margin of error is very thin to make top two, especially with preseason favorites Sting Black and Solar yet to stumble so far.
And yes...This forum has gotten very boring.

But big swing and a miss by me on Classics Elite. I hear they are much, much better than I gave them credit for. Nice 2-0 win over TSC today. I expect a tight game vs Celtic tomorrow.

Re: ECNL-08
Oklahoma: The two Oklahoma teams appear likely to both finish in the bottom 3. Either has enough weapons to play spoiler, though.
South Texas: Challenge and Classics Elite are solid and good enough to sneak up on anybody, but Sting Austin and Albion appear to be the class of south Texas. Their matchup this weekend is the game of the week. The winner will feel like they have a real shot at securing one of the two playoff spots.
Dallas: Sting Black has been impressive. Solar and Texans have taken care of business against the OK teams, but it would be a mistake to read too much into that. Let's see how they do against other playoff hopefuls. DKSC, FC Dallas, and DKSC have had mixed results so far. Any are good enough to compete for one of the 2 Playoff spots, but the FCD vs DKSC game is the other game of the week this weekend. Winner stays in the mix.
Five teams have yet to drop points - Sting Black, Solar, Sting Austin, Texans, and Albion.
Weekend guesses for the week 1 rematches:
Solar -4 Tulsa (Solar with a 9-1 win in week one)
Texans -1 Celtic (Texans with 3-0 win in week one)
Sting Austin -.5 Albion (week one game postponed)
FCD -1 DKSC (0-0 draw in week one)
Black -3 Royal (Black with 7-0 win in week one)
Challenge -1 Classics Elite (Challenge with a 7-0 win in week one, but CE with better results since)

I think Sting Austin has played a tougher slate of games than Texans so far (or Solar).

I know Texans have been perfect so far, but I'd rank them like that for now. 3 through 10 is a wild guess right now and I wouldn't argue with any order. Should be much clearer in a month after those top 6 mix it up a bit with one another.

Re: ECNL-08
Game of the week is DKSC vs Sting Austin. DKSC needs a win in order to stay in the title mix. Sting Austin is out to prove they aren't just the "best of the rest, non-Dallas division" but are a legitimate conference title contender. I'd like to see them pull off a W vs a solid Dallas team before I'm ready to pick them to beat one. They get two shots at it this weekend.
My guesses:
Sting Black 2-1 Sting Austin
DKSC 3-1 Classics Elite
Sting Austin 1-1 DKSC
Sting Black 4-0 Classics Elite

Re: ECNL-08
Game was more lopsided than the score suggests.
Sting Austin left it late to secure the winner, but it could have been 2 or 3 to zero at that point.
The win sets up a big game between two of the three remaining undefeated teams tomorrow (Black vs Austin). Should be a very good game.

There isn't a lot of depth. We didn't even really have an 08 team at all last year. Pulled over 95% of the top Lonestar 08 team to make the ECNL team, and then pieced together the RL team. I imagine more depth will arrive as they get older.
Close game today for the 08 ECNL vs Sting Black. Black won on a late goal. Good game and can't wait to do it again.
