Dallas Texans 02 Glotz

Well I have some breaking news for the fourm. Glotz 02 team did very good in the plano laborday tournament. Well I guess not good enought. Glotz has called it quits on the team. Wow wounder what happen. That was very sad for me to hear. I wish him the best of luck. Wounder were the DD will play now. Stay with the texans or go to another club.

This is true. Not tring to start trouble really.

Had that happen after a tourney once. Sometimes coaches get fed up. That probably isn't what happened but coaches are just people. Change is the only constant. Hate it though... obviously a sad situation for the girls. Hopefully they will get an awesome replacement coach and can stay together.

That is so true. Parents can ruin a coaches life. Glotz was a awesome coach and a great person off the field. From what parents say. Select soccer is a viscous money making sport. It will eather bring your team together or tair them apart. Best wishes to DD's hopefully they get a good coach.

Looks like the pressure was too much.
Knowing that he would have to turn over his best players to RH before next July whether he liked it or not probably put him over the edge.
But . . .expect him to be well coached by the club to put a dignified 'spin' on the situation.

That's crazy, i couldnt imagine a coach just walking away. Its the beginning of the season. werent yall surpose to play EAL? I am new(2 years) to this whole soccer acadmey/select thing but does this really happen alot? I hope your dd and her teammates get a great coach and yall can get back to playing some soccer. If team does fall apart and your in the lewisville/flower mound area, holla at me:)

I "heard" why he is quitting from a very good source! I don't like getting into he said- she said so I will just give everyone a color commentary of the semi final game and a little pregame hype from the game the day before against the Rowdies and let everyone form their own reasons as to why he might be quitting! Does anyone want me to give any commentary?

The Ex.Glotz team will stay together. If they do decide to leave it will be as a team. And a recap, all I know is the parents were not happy with the OverTime subs that were made. And from what i saw Higgs never made a sub, his core girls were in the game to win it.

I would think and hope so. Seems a little over the top to have such a big argument over subs in overtime that the coach quits.

Come on Roid, you can't tease and walk away? Of course, if someone is reading this forum, they will want to know the scoop, and what happened? Do tell, color commentary on the game, as well as at least an overview of what you "heard" is the reason, even if you don't give every detail.

if this is true it will be good for the team I feel the girls were not being pushed to their max. potential. just my opinion.

First off, the Sunday morning game.
Rowdies win first game 2-0....0-0 at halftime. Rowdies getting the better of Glotz, but Glotz hanging tough! In 2nd half Glotz starts subbing key starters and parents take notice.

Forward to Mondays semi final game. In first half Rowdies have wind and go up 1-0. Both teams playing tough and doing well. Glotz offence actually is putting shots on goal unlike day before.

In the 2nd half Glotz has the wind and is getting pressure on Rowdies and puts 2 goals in and goes up 2-1 with about 8 minutes left in game. At this point is where real controversy starts. Glotz mass subs 4 bench players for 4 starters. Parents eyes bug out! Of course Rowdies don't sub any players and score the equalizer.

1st overtime 10 min overtime half. Glotz puts 2 starters on bench for the entire first overtime period. Higgibotham keeps starters in whole period...no subbing by him. Glotz had wind game ends period still 2-2. Both teams get shots off.

2nd overtime 10 min overtime half. Higgibotham has wind and plays starters the whole half never once puts a bench player in for the entire overtime...either half. Glotz bench's his starting midfielder and starting forward(best scorer). Higgibotham scores with 8 min left in period. You think Glotz puts 2 starters back in game...especially his top forward? Nope, both starters never see the field. Instead Glotz subs in 2 bench players. Puts one at forward and moves another girl that's a starter at defender and puts her at forward(a position she hasn't played in over a year). And to top it off he moves his left footed forward back to defender. Parents going crazy hoping he puts in top forward(already has 1 goal), but no can do.... she stays on bench along with starting midfielder with the game on the line!

Rowdies win. Glotz parents think he didn't want to beat his boss, end of story!

Damn- I would have tried to beat my boss. Got to step up and make a name for the team. If this theory is true I would not want my DD on this team. Let the recruiting feast begin.

I doubt it, he probably just felt that you win as a team, you lose as a team, and struggled with the thought of upsetting the girls on the bench without even giving them a chance to play at critical times. Maybe his goal was building up the bench to give them some stress/critical game experience and make the team better in the long run, instead of relying on the same players to succeed or fail for this one event.

I forgot to put a disclaimer! I am in no way trying to say that Glotz would of won either way. All that was told to me and is written here is said to be spot on accurate as to what happened and the Glotz parents just wanted the team to be coached with the best chance to win with the game on the line.

Glotz team had the game coaching has alot to do when your up 2-1 you change your tactics and defend harder apply more pressure but if your coach is not coaching the team to do so then it is a coaching issue. let me remind everyone tournaments are played to win.

Tournaments are not always played to win. Teams play up to get experience or use it as a tryout for guests, lineups, etc. You can find several explamples of this just from this past weekend.

The only shocking angle to this whole sordid episode is the naivete of the Glotz parents who it seems completely swallowed the line about developing two strong but separate teams following DM's departure! All that ever matters is producing THE top Texans (RH) team on July 1st, 2012. All other teams are collateral in achieving this rather ruthless objective. End of story.
