Some posts are awesome----- Some are rubbish.... When I was young I played sports and still do... At age 6/7/8/9/10 and throughout college we were always pushed...to condition and strengthen our bodies.... Yeah running stinks....Yeah going to the gym stunk... But its part of the game or sports that I have played and part of the sport that our daughters are playing...Some of you make it sound like he was going to run the girls till they died... If some of them were crying it was probably the same act that they put on when we tell them to clean their room.... Right??? They don't want to do it... They pout and cry...Maybe even a tantrum...Happens at my house on occasion..... Or maybe some of you live in a utopian world???? Not me.... Its reality... Where this whole thing goes sideways is when you start personally attacking someone as you hide behind your keyboard....Yes Pitchdad... I am calling you out...are you upset you don't have a Shiny Red Car??? Maybe then you can be on display.... Oh wait.... You have already displayed yourself by your posts personally attacking a coach.....You know what they say about opinions????? Obviously you have many.....
Cheers
Everyone, meet the coach...
Incorrect..... Happy Parent??????? Pitchdad has said something that I can finally agree with.... You do look yummy.....

Making eight year old little girls run 30 laps around a field as a punishment? I'm speechless.my2cents wrote:Conditioning for 6,7 and 8 year olds is all about development after all everyone knows out of shape 6 year olds can't learn skills properly. That there is even a discussion about it is sad. Bottom line folks; talk to a pediatrician or orthopedist about it. When your dd blows out an ACL or MCL or having to see a chiropractor at 13 then you,ll be doing the research and saying if only.......
I'm not sure who shocks me more - this 'coach' who clearly does not understand children and how to motivate them, or the parents who brought their kids back to the next practice!

Re: Money, Money, Money, Money ... MONEY!
FYI - there is no reference to shedding tears
No 15 min qtrs or 30 min halves for under 14.
This whole thread is entertaining but can be summed up with everyone having a different opinion
on what's appropriate and what's not - this will never be resolved. If someone is fine with a coach yelling at their kid - you can't state that it's wrong, it's wrong for you, not everyone. If someone is fine with a coach running their kid all day - you can't state that it's wrong, it's wrong for you...you get the point.
There are many on this thread claiming this is way out of line, but, if the situation were different in terms of liking their coach, kids or parents - they'd likely buy into whatever the coach does. For the record, my kids never really started conditioning of any sort until around age 11. Lots of running in water, on sand in pre-season stuff.
The ages being talked about here are pretty interesting and just examples of problems associated with starting competitive stuff this early. It wasn't long ago when there was no academy - I don't know how parents survived without the additional training and games as well as dedicating their kid's entire freetime to one sport?
Regarding kids quitting early from burnout - that's internal to each kid, there are kids that would quit without a coach involved as well as those that would run through a wall every day to play soccer. From what I've seen, the top kids generally keep an interest, then some stay with it, some quit - their dominance usually ends around age 10-12 when everyone evens out in speed/size. The teams with the better athletes at the youngest ages usually stay at or near the top as it becomes a draw for even better athletes (rich get richer). Rarely is the best player at U7 the best player at U11 - they can be very good, but they are rarely dominant.

No crap, someone please throw up a FBR ranking on the 04s here please and lets get the party started! Only stipulation is that Dalglish be rated no higher then 3rd so we can really fire up the discussion.

Yea, I've got Dalglish ranked below DT South 04 since that was the "last true and compelte 04 game" they played against a top team and LOST
