3v3 Soccer Tournament - JUNE 2012

Just wanted to provide the few updates we have since I posted this back in DEC 2011. If you have already voted, you do not need to vote again, just wanted to provide updates and see if there were any other interested teams.

We are a Non-Profit 501(c)3 Organization; Building Smiles Foundation and we are working on creating a Spring from JUNE 01-03, 2012 3v3 Tournament to benefit our mission.

That mission is to bring smiles and entertainment to families dealing with Childhood Cancer. We are working on setting up a Digital Library (DVDs, games, game consoles, tablets, etc) for when families are in the hospital -- and -- providing entertainment when not in the hospital; sporting events, movies, bowling, mini-golf, etc.

We know soccer is HUGE in North Texas and would like to invite both REC and ACADEMY/SELECT teams to play in a 3v3 Tournament. Based on interest, we will be also get Event Insurance (due to weather, etc) and Corporate/Company Sponsors so we can provide freebies to the athletes, as well as Medals and Participation T-shirts.

This currently is a preleminary poll/inquisition to see the interest. We are currently talking to the Plano, Lewisville and Little Elm PARD for fields.

Challenge Sports has reached out to us, as being a tournament for the Top 4 Qualifiers to 3v3 National at Walt Disney World in Aug 2012

I'm too much of a rookie to give you any feedback on your tournaments but my dd's 9 year old BFF has cancer. Her family is always so encouraged by all the programs and support that are given by people. Good luck getting your program off the ground. I "liked" you on Facebook! Thank you! We are meeting with Children's Medical next month and hope to start bringing smiles to the families very soon. We also plan to have our website up by 01/01/2012 but you can "Like" us on FB (thanks for doing that) and follow as at Twitter right now.

So far we are encouraged we have 4 "yes" votes in a little over 2 hours.

Children's Medical ROCKS! We are regular participants in their Red Balloon fundraiser. Their children's clinic waiting room has toys and TV's but, as I recall (we only went a couple of times with my friend's daughter to keep her company), there were not too many "older kid" toys. And my friend's daughter always had her DS and cartridges with her (you know it can be a very long wait sometimes and these toys are a good distraction especially when they were to have a stressful procedure)--so gaming consoles and cartridges are such a great idea. There were always things available when she was admitted to the hospital but the weekly grind of clinic visits is where having this kind of fun support will be so appreciated.

Suggest you watch league calendars carefully. Most of the local leagues start play in late August and go through October. In the Spring, most leagues end in late April but State Cup is usually the first two weekends in May. You've got a great cause here and I hope the timing works out to make these events HUGE for you. Thank you @itsme, that is a great suggestion; we will watch the Academy and Rec league calendars. As of right now are planning to have it near the last couple weeks of May and will keep everyone updated.

May is a BUSY month for tournaments. The first weekend of May would be a good weekend (usually, the only major conflict is State Cup), or anytime in the month June would be good.

Thanks @coachdom23 - We will consider that information when trying to get fields and set a date. Since we would like a Great Turnout, we will try to avoide the State Cup. Any ETA on what days that will be?

Also check with 3v3 live and kick it as the usually do may tourneys as well.

We have been in talks with Challenge Sports (http://www.challengesports.com) and once we can iron out the date and location; we will be a qualifying tournament to send the Top 4 Qualifiers in each division to Walt Disney World in August 2012.

So hopefully that will raise some interests as well from some teams (both REC & Academy)

You will get a good turnout in Rec and Academy and Premier-Level teams, the first weekend of State Cup (usually, 1st weekend in May), because there is little competition from other tournaments. Any other weekend in May is packed full of 3-8 competing tournaments, each weekend. I would shoot for June.

Our main website will be up and running by 02/01/2012.

What is the status of this (fields / dates / qualifying / cost)? Haven't seen anything in regards to advertising and I know it will sneak up on you and be to later pretty soon. We should be able to bring a few teams (02's, 03's & 04's) from West of DFW depending on specifics.

We are still working with Plano and Little Elm PARD's; however we are planning on the 3v3 Tournament to be from FRI June 1st through SUN June 3rd. We are working with Challenge Sports, but are hoping the Cost will be $150 for the 3v3 (U6-U10 - Max Roster Six) and $175 for 4v4 (U11-14 - Max Roster Eight).

We are working with several radio stations and newspapers for ads, but aren't sure on that yet, since we want more funds to go to our Charity (Building Smiles Foundation) to help the families dealing with Childhood Cancer.

I hope to have more information by middle of next week.

Just looked at Kick It 3v3 and there is an Austin, TX and Oklahoma City, OK the weekend of 06/01-06/03.

Saw that 3v3 Live has one in The Colony the same week.

We are still working with Little Elm and our 1st Annual 3v3 Soccer Tournament to help raise funds for our Non-Profit (Building Smiles Foundation) to help families dealing with Childhood Cancer is on schedule for June 1st through 3rd, 2012.

We even spoke with NTSSA this morning and will be sanctioned by them.

A dedicated website for Registration, Rules, etc should be up by early second week of April.

We are working with a few other minor details, but should have all that settled by 04/08/2012.
