I believe the old FCD Renfro White team is now called FCD Palimisimo(spelling).

Yep it is true. They beat Barnes 4-0 in SDL, lost to them in Adidas Challenge 0-1, beat Dynamo 3-1, and fell apart in the final with Dynamo to take second at Adidas.soccer_chick wrote:It was Renfro Red that Solar Barnes beat

Sounds like 10yr soccer for most teams. Some good games, some bad. Not always consistent but getting better. Both Renfro and Barnes seem to be doing something right. I think they will both be good contenders for this tourney. Hurricanes from Ok are probably the team to beat though.

The way this tournament was set up for the 02's is the worst I've ever seen.
So stupid to have all your games be cross bracket. The 02 girls were the only group they screwed like this. All the other age groups that had 12 teams, they split in to 3 brackets of four with the bracket winners + the top points getter (non bracket winner) as a wild card.
As a friend of mine put it to an analogy... it's like if all Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, etc all played Italian teams. Then whoever had the most points was crowned the winner of the Premiership.
Also, how ridiculous are those Cox 3 and 4 fields. It's like playing on a freaking square field. The center circle almost touches the semi-circle on the top of the penalty box. Games on those fields felt more like an indoor game since there was not room for any long runs or passing.

02Dad,
I agree with you in regards on how they did the format for this tourney. It is weird to say the least. You have 2 teams in B & D that have yet to lose a game but only 2 of those team will make the semi finals.
What would they do if you have 2 teams in a bracket that tied for point? I know it goes down to GF & GA but that would stink to be dumped out that way.
I also agree about the fields as I was at your 3:30 game against Blitz United today. It looked rather oddly shaped and not many big runs for either teams due to lack of field space.

None of these situations apply to my DD's team but how does it make sense to them in any way that in a single bracket, all three teams could win all three games yet only one of them will advance. Likewise, in a bracket you can have a team lose all three games and still advance. Other age goups with 12 teams did a 3 bracket winners + 1 wildcard format, seems to make much more sense.
Re the fields... that game you saw vs Blitz was on the "normal" size field.
The others we had were on the square fields. At some point they apparently had three smaller fields above the two large fields. Now they have turned the three small rectangles into two square fields.

Even if it was normal in shape it was still small goal to goal in my opinion. Maybe I have gotten used to RR where the fields just seem to go on for ever. LOL!!

Not only that, They beat Solar Gio 4-0. TSC had 26 pts Gio 9 pts and Gio is in the Semi's. Go figure?
