Sad. Clearly a good goal. The officiating in the 03 games was deplorable as well.

Clearly listening to shouts of parents or as blind as a bat. Would have been better if she overslept her alarm clock this weekend.

Obviously the wrong call, but sometimes it is interesting to try to figure out what thought process produced the wrong call. We could say incompetence or "inattention", and maybe that has some truth to it, perhaps. But I'm guessing that she was somehow confused by the fact that when goal scorer didn't touch the ball until she was past the second to last defender. That's not an excuse for the missed call- that's a simple error that shouldn't be made by somebody who is well-trained. But I'm guessing that is the error that the linesman made, and she could probably benefit from seeing this and being reminded that when the first touch occurs doesn't matter- it is whether the receiver was onside at the moment the pass was made.

Congrats also to DT South 05G for making it to the finals.
Were they pure 05s or did they supplement with 04s?

Congrats to South's 05s. They played age pure the entire tournament.

The difference between the Beardsley and Keegan games were that for the finals and the first Keegan game, South 05 was without its main forward. She only played in the Beardsley game.

She only played in the Beardsley game.

Why didn't she play in the other games? Hope it wasn't an injury.

You hit on a key thing here "somebody who is well-trained". She's probably a blue-badge and has barely been officiating.

Either way, the final call rests with the CR and he should have waved that off if he were in the proper position or had any idea of what was going on in the game.

What's sad is that this girl is most likely just now getting into officiating and learning the ropes. She blew a call in an 04 game and probably heard about it the rest of the game from the coaches and parents. Most likely the parents since she looks like AR2. Repeated events like this without the proper correction (from the CR and not the parents/coaches) and she'll likely quit officiating and the shortage of officials will remain. Moreover, a new referee will replace her next year and the problem very well could repeat itself.
