02Dad - just send me your ranking file each week and I will post the output.
I have no skin in the '02 game. My youngest is an '01.
The data will have passed through an impartial review by someone who has full knowledge of the SW. The naysayers can take me on all they want.
Bwgophers knows what he is getting into and is 02 nuetral. Seems like a perfect offer. Why not 02dad? You mentioned that you plan to keep up with the data anyway, right?

Yes, 02dad, the 3-4 skeptics don't trust you to publish the data, they would just like you to continue to volunteer your time and effort to gather the data, then send your data to BWGophers, and let him post it. That way, they can continue to complain that their team should be #17 instead of #19. Because, that will make a big difference, if BW posts it on here, instead of 02Dad? It is a computer program, it will be the same no matter who runs the data through the program. This is so ridiculous. A few bad apples spoiling a little fun for the majority of the "not as crazy" soccer parents who like the FBR.

What does it say about us if we need a neutral 3rd party overseer to give us confidence that a parent that is volunteering his time to publish a ranking of teams made up of 9 and 10 year old children that has no bearing on your team, or its select chances if that is your team's goal, is not fudging the data to make sure his dd's team is ranked higher than it should be on this hopefully just for fun and entertainment ranking sytem?

Gophers knows FBR inside out and actually enjoys putting naysayers at ease laying out the logic for why such and such team is ranked here vs. such and such other team is ranked there (at least he used to ).
In fact the current version of FBR is substantially improved for purposes of ranking soccer teams because he hounded the software developer into implementing changes to some of the algorithms. The bad apples will have a lot of fun trying to challenge gophers on this stuff. And if something is wrong - he will fix it.

I'm not a skeptic.
I understand what is good about the FBR software (it does a good job of predicting results where teams are 7+ ranking slots apart) and what FBR's limitations are (it really can't differentiate between teams that are too close to call (for ex. #3 vs #4)). The problem, of course, is that people pick apart the rankings in those "who is number one vs number two terms" -- those that do are trying to do eye surgery with a machete of a tool. That does not mean it is not valuable when hacking your way through the soccer jungle.
So I thought bwgophers had a good offer to keep it going without all the malpractice insurance for 02dad on the eye surgery front.

This is a great idea bwgopher. You know what you are doing and 02 Dad can take a well deserved break. Thanks for stepping up! I think the FBR is a very valuable ranking tool. Good conversation piece too. Have you possibly PM'd 02 Dad?
02 DAD are you out there? Does this work for you? Please lets keep this FBR public for all to see.

Amen!!!!!!!
I don't know if you care 02 dad but the silent majority appreciates you. (Readers... not ALL posters!) I would hope that our generation eventually figures it out. To be honest... Avatars are more telling then the posters themselves. They are an insight into an individual’s values and the kids are unfortunate pawns of a life LOOOOONG gone. SAD!!! Yeah… go back and reconsider your fellow poster’s avatars… Once again... to all the responsible posters... God Bless. For all the parents that are highlighted on dateline NBC and other media outlets for compelling their kids to be something they are not.... time will tell the story! Scholarships are few and far between across the nation (yes soccer exists outside of north Texas). If you take the average cost of select and multiply it by the eight years you will experience it then it is a very poor investment if for the wrong reason. I hope that reason is not to be on a winner. (You tube Charlie Sheen)
Here is a test… before you post something run, it by a trusted friend (preferably from a professional setting). If they look at you like you’re an a$$ then don’t post it. Or better yet contact your local secondary school and ask for a tutorial on appropriate use of technology. Once again... to all the responsible posters... God Bless.
I might not know soccer but I do know human interaction. WELL! It is my profession. A dissertation could be written on the etiology of the hate that is spewed on this sight. Once again… the pathetic minority. (PS… I am not against fair and appropriate discourse and/or the questioning of the way things are because that is our constitutional right!!!) However… there is a right and wrong way to go about this. With technology comes great responsibility.
Kiss your kids before they go to bed tonight and tell them you love them unconditionally!
Ps… I might have spelling errors above.
Pss… My daughter plays on a team that is so bad my posting rights might be revoked if they knew.
Psss… The current US women’s team contains no girls from north Texas.
Pssss… Did you ever consider that the best teams are not ALWAYS JUST the best players but from families that have disposable sports income and/or live within reasonable proximity to that practice location? (By the way if you fall into that category then more power to you… don’t ever apologize for that! I envy you!)
Psssss… Other female sports do exist!
Pssssss… To all the great parents on the side lines that don’t yell like their metaphorical paycheck depends on it I would like to say God bless.
Peace and love!

Otherwise it is just pathetic conjecture. Do not think that this forum is any different then a typical night for any secondary kid ages 12 and up on Facebook. DD's are digital natives (our kids) and we are digital immigrants (the parents). Google it... or better yet find a research library full of the articles regarding the “technology gap” in scholarly articles that highlight how parents can be just as, if not more, irresponsible than their CHILDREN. To all the great parents I would like to say God bless. Otherwise, anonymous slander from the vocal minority is a hallmark of forums like this for a reason.

PS4 I have read this 3 times and it keeps getting better! You would definitely be my favorite poster if you weren't semi-retired and posted more often. Thanks for the reality check.
Also, what does my avatar say about me?

i have calls in to ernst and young and kpmg. first we will have an audit, just to redeem 02dad. then we will contract, through retainer of course, for FBR to be done on the outside on a monthly basis. results will be provided to 02dad for his review, then submitted to gophers for posting. i am expecting the bids to come in at around the $4k a month range. I figure just divide it among the screen names - although that would make some people pay more than others now wouldn't it?

Polaris should continue to climb up the list.
Dynamo ranked too high and should drop.
Fever should climb.
DT South continues to look good winning at will.
Liverpool St. John improving.
FCD Renfro slight improvement.
TFC holds steady.
D'Feeters falling
Jr ECNL Tourney has its' own story line.
02Dad please come back! We need the data to talk not us unformed pretenders.
