i don't think an accurate picture can be generated based on all the teams playing in different leagues and age groups. getting everyone together for the spring tourneys will be the best judge.

SDL 7v7 playing on the smaller slanted fields of Andromeda or rolling tundra of the Blue Sky. DT Rosales, DT Doyle, Sting Goodman and Solar Kennington playing 03 SDL

EAL 8v8 fields are definitely larger than Andromeda and Blue Sky. some teams are better in space. 4-5 teams could win this league. LP RASE playing 03 EAL

Primetime not sure on details of this league. but looks like better competition than 04 SDL. Fever, Odyssey and LP Barnes should vie for the top spot.

Lost ONE top forward and a mid. Gained several TOP players from the white team. We will see how the season goes, should be fun!!

2-DTN (has beaten Solar every time they have matched this fall)

6-Solar (with them losing both their star forwards and their mid fielder). This will not be the team from the fall.

I heard that it was a total of 3 players but my information could be wrong but the person who told me is pretty reliable. I hope Solar's new additions keep them in the hunt. I just know it's going to be hard to replace their star forward.

One or 2 players don't make a team, especially if the coach is solid enough and has promoted teamwork, which is true with this coach. This team has won tournaments and marquee games without these players before, so shouldn't be an issue. Not sure how the new players will fit in at the beginning, it may take a few games.

I would be a little concerned if I were a Solar parent on either of their teams in the 04 age group.
Just watching the futsal games at Sportsplex this winter showed how far they and the rest of the pack is behind the Liverpool Reds Academy School of Excellence (RASE) team.

RASE beat both Solar Kenn and Solar White over two games by a cumulative score of 30-2

They also beat DT North Rosales 6-3 and DT Rowdies 9-3.

While performance in futsal does not always translate to the outdoor game, it does highlight where there has been technical/footwork development. And that is pretty much all 8 year old kids should be focusing on at this age!

You sure do know how to promote the stereotype of a Dalglish/RASE parent. Why should Solar parents be concerned? Cause they're not on the #1 team at 7 years old? I suppose any kid who isn't on your team should be "concerned."

Did your team go undefeated at Sportsplex? According to the scores, there were no undefeated teams. I know, I know. Those games you lost, you didn't have your best players. Of course those teams you beat never had any kids missing or sick.

Yes, RASE is the top team right now. LW and his crew have done the best job of recruiting the top players. That does not equate to being the best coach for development. He does a great job but there are other good coaches out there. Nobody should be concerned if they are not on this team.

Solar Kennington will remain a top team. Solar will still have strong players in each position to make up for the girls that left. They will do just fine.

I agree that while he has lost great talent he still has great players that will keep this team in the top 10 if not top 5. While this team wasn't a good fit for my dd he is a good skills coach and has a great group of girls and parents.

Don't lump Solar White with Solar '04 they are not the same group of girls. While the White team has made huge strides they are not at the caliber as the Solar '04 team. Also don't trust Sportsplex website for accurate scores keeping. For example the championship game it has Bennett beating DTN which isn't the case. DTN won that game and it was a great game I might add.

As for LP I have no idea of which futsal team is the RASE group but I know players interchanged teams. I saw several of the same players on all 3 squads at times. So hard to tell at least in futsal which squad was the top team. I am going to assume it's the black as they have the best win/loss ratio of all 3 but there was player sharing between 3 teams.

Yes we should all be so concerned if our 8 year old girls were not lucky enough or blessed enough to be accepted into the Liverpool Reds Academy of Excellence. There is just no other good coaching, at least none with a British accent, in all of North Texas.

We just have to face it. The LP RASE team is just a superior stock of genes whose parents know how to grow faster, smarter, and more athletic children then all other teams combined.

After the LP RASE team takes all of the already promised D1 scholarships and women’s national team spots available, all of us on the inferior teams and clubs will have to fight for the scraps of D2 and D3 schools only to have our girls waiting tables and cleaning the houses of the RASE gals when they grow up.

Clearly the right thing for me to do is see if one of the RASE families will adopt my children so they will have a better life.

Jen- that was kind of harsh!! You know several of our White team girls can hang with the '04's. They have proven it as guest players in games and tournaments over the past few seasons. They are all great athletes!! I'm sure the White team will surprise a lot of people this season.

I wasn't being harsh just stating the 2 teams are not equal. If you read further I praised how much the white team has excelled but their not a top 5 team. Will the move up this season of course they will. They are a hard working bunch of girls with a good coach. Just telling Lobo mom not to lump the two as equals.

Even I know several of the '04 white team helped the '03 tea, this summer win a couple tourneys. So please don't not twist my words as an insult when that was not the case.

I agree 100% with Eliza466! The Solar White Team was missing 3 players, and had 1 guest, when LP Barnes played them last SDL season. It came down to the wire and while Barnes did pull out the W (barely) I have no idea what it would have looked like had the full Solar White roster been there. They are a very nice team and I wouldn't be surprised to see them win A LOT of games this season. Where is Solar White playing this season?

Solar will be fine. I saw an outstanding player from their second team. Small Hispanic girl with tons of skill and very quick. Hopefully can get moved to the top team and now play a bigger role. The tall girl is also an excellent player as are the twins. He has talent there and now they all have the opportunity to step to the forefront. LP RASE is not about recruiting, it is about developing and teaching. LP Rase is not the only solution and maybe not even the best solution for every girl. I personally think the switch was a good move and better fit for the player and that is what it should be about. Not what is good for your team, coach, club, how many games you will win, but what will help your DD reach her best As a club you make your player pool as big as possible. As a academy director you try and find the best possible spot for each player if that's rase or someplace else. As rase coach you take the steps to best develope that team.

Since the roster is large this season for the white team, sone will play PSA and some will play SDL.

LP may look good with rase and have some other 04 teams coming along, but the club to watch is Texans

Rosales has a solid group with some outstanding players
rowdies/bennett/? have what I would have considered to be LW top group of kids from a couple of years back as their core. They have taken a big hit on coaching during that time but I think are primed for a strong showing.
TBG/texans is another solid group that is putting a good product out on the field.
Texans south made a big splash and the went on hiatus but the pedegree is there with the 03 squad.

If the Ego's can be put in check I think you might be looking at a player pool for select teams that might be stronger than LP

I am confused....does a team/parent/coach get a bigger trophy or something if they are ranked in the top 10? Why is it so important to rank and predict scores of 8 yr old soccer? Just curious. New to this whole thing. Daughter played in the tourny this weekend and she loved it. It is obvious when watching, the girls just want to play and could care less about rankings (or even know what they are!) I see so many posts about putting other teams down or discussions about how much better a team is than another. Really makes no sense when you look at the big picture.

Also...just curious how many parents commenting on this stuff have ever even played themselves and know what its like!

I played for 14 years...... Do I qualify??

To the kids it absolutely is not important.

To the parents, if your kid is talented, being in the top 10-20 come select means you have a good chance of playing D1 or D2 lake highlands and a better chance for scholarships.

Now yes, if you have good talent and skills, you can always try out to get on one of these teams later, but ideally you are on this team already going into U10 soccer.

All of that being said, there will likely be much turn over and changes between now and U10 so much of these rankings won’t mean much until another two years. I think most on here do it just for fun. If anyone gets bent out of shape or has to create multiple aliases to pump up their team (you know who you are), they are taking this too seriously.

No worries! I am relaxed. This was my first big soccer tourny as a dad and i was getting good laughs at how serious it was at the young age. Obvioulsy based on my name...i have been involved in other sports. I have simply seen some really talented kids get sick of a sport before they are in their mid teens. Unfortunately it is usually because the parents are so gung ho and push them so hard! When I found this website I realized soccer is no different.

Baseballdad..... Welcome to North Texas Soccer!! Hold on tight, pucker up and enjoy the ride. It will not get any better. Rankings and discussions (positive or negative) will go on forever. Take a look at the '05 thread or '06 thread. They have already started their too. Learn how not to be reactive and try not to take the bait from some of the trolls on this board. Many great parents on this board. Just like anywhere, you have some bad apples. Best of luck.

Not what is good for your team, coach, club, how many games you will win, but what will help your DD reach her best As a club you make your player pool as big as possible. As a academy director you try and find the best possible spot for each player if that's rase or someplace else. As rase coach you take the steps to best develope that team.

I am going to chime in and ask what athlete this is you are referring to? If I am thinking correctly, this is my child. So I just wanted to thank you for noticing her. All of the white team does a superb job, and we are happy to be a part of it. As you can see, Joey Kennington has done an outstanding job developing athletes on the white team, as evidenced by your remark about my daughter. When she started with him a year ago, she was far from the same athlete she is now. She has come so far with Joey. Just wanted to throw a quick shout out that you noticed all the hard work Joey does in developing our girls!
