04 Girls - Week 3 Standings, Rankings and a little Fun with Math

DISCLAIMER: Our lawyers (I'm serious about that) have required us to make the following statement. These rankings are for FUN and should not be assumed to be accurate (in fact they probably aren't). The rankings are based on very limited data and we keep them only for the parents on this board to get into some lively discussions and have the chance to brag shamelessly about their own team (But we are not recommending that as it makes you look foolish). Keep in mind that there are a large number of 04 teams in the metroplex and chosing your 7 or 8 year old's team based on the rankings of a few outspoken and biased parents or coaches and a limited software program would be, well, silly. Also, please be advised that any poster who gets too ugly will be subjected to group shaming and their team will be assessed with multiple 0-10 losses in the ranking system.



Let me start of with No system is Perfect and to say this is just a starting point is an understatement, but here you go.

1st the Pieces to the Puzzle:
- Games Played (GP)
- League Factor (LF)(10 - Average Ranking based on previous poll) (Higher the # the better here)
- Preseason Parents Poll Ranking (PPPR) (1 thru whatever the highest # is) (note per the formula this is only 10% of the score. Maybe at the end of the season we will do a end of season poll (if I don't fire myself by that time) and add that to the formula)
- Season Points (SP) 6 points for Win, 3 points for Tie, 1 pt for every goal up to 3, and 1 extra point if you get a Shutout (10 is max)
- The Fun Math, I am not sold this is the math we will use long term, I am reviewing a few FBR/Power Ranking spreadsheets I got, but it is a start
(((LF * SP) / GP)*0.9)+((57-PPPR)*0.1)

I will post an overall Power Rankings in the same thread different Post so here you go, PS - if you have Ideas to improve the math send them to me via PM, keep in mind this is just for fun. To be honest, I have no clue how long I am going to keep this up as it is a HUGE Pain in the You Know What!

They don't seem to keep score, so I made a choice to not bite off more than I could chew...

When will you calculate recent tournaments played and the fall season so we can get a better look at rankings?

As soon as I find enought time and energy to pull all that data together and incorporate it into the factorization, oh and I am still working on my soccer FBR Masters.

If it would only rain, maybe I could get a free weekend!
