'04 FBR Rankings - 10/18/12

I know you haven't included LFC Barnes as we're playing in the 03s in PrimeTime Silver (won 4, lost 1) but can you throw us in at #77 to show we still exist

Agree with that. Appreciate the job BDubb is doing. Not sure I completely agree with the rankings either, but one way to make the case is to play and beat those teams ranked above. So along those lines, AFC-Adidas is coming up in a few weeks. Where all the ballers at? Let's get signed up and let's see what's up.

What would be hilarious would be to claim SDL, EAL, or any other league is the same level of difficulty as TGPL.

Sure there are 2-3 teams punished a bit more in the formula for skipping TGPL and should probably be top 10, but the reality is they are playing easier opponents ON AVERAGE week to week versus TGPL and there would be no way to accommodate them without pushing several more teams down relative to many other teams.

Besides, by the time these rankings start to really matter (next year) I think all of the top 20 teams will have plenty of history with each other.

I would have to disagree with these rankings as well, I think EAL is not being given a fair shake even though Owen played in the final at Plano Labor Day tourney. And Considering PTCL are only playing 4 of the same teams over and over, really only 2 of the teams in PTCL league are rank able. Just an opinion

First on your comment and reasoning based on "Owen played in the final at Plano..."

Owen was a finalist in the silver bracket of Plano labor day. They lost to Sting Searls 3 to 1 in the finals.... Sting Searls is currently 11th out of 12 teams in TGPL.

The FBR is taking into consideration things JUST like this.... that is how teams fair against similar competition. The fact that the 1st place EAL team can lose 3-1 to the near last place TGPL team is what puts less weight to EAL game schedules. Again, FBR is based on results…not opinions.

Now about TGPL teams playing 4 of the same teams over and over... I have NO idea what you are talking about here.

I personally think the FBR rankings are the best, most accurate and consistent level of measurement we've had since academy began. Do I always agree with them? No. But they're the definitive resource for either casual interest or downright obsession we have.

I have no doubt that TGPL is a very tough league. I don't doubt for a moment that Texans North DeLeon 04 and Sting 04 Scarfone are solid teams. I wonder though, if just playing in a league is enough to justify an automatic top 16 ranking? I wonder... when does competing in a league that's too challenging for your group negatively effect a team?

I think the manager that got the team registered for the TGPL league in a timely manner should be ranked highly. Is there an FBR for team managers?

Based on the stats, South's defense/keeper have done a better job pitching more shutouts (4 of 5 games) and giving up less goals than RASE all with a tougher schedule.

RASE can certainly put up goals though. In fact RASE is the only team to have scored on South in 5 games so far.

But, in all seriousness, it is a good 9! I do think Lady Aztecs are a force to be reckoned with. They have some serious talent at both the 05 and 04 age group level.

As it Applies to these Rankings, TGPL Play Is & SHOULD Be Weighed Heavier...My DD has Played TGPL, EAL & Even a Couple SDL Games, Fall 2012...

The Level of Competition in TGPL is Night & Day, from the Other Leagues...That's NOT to Say there Aren't Good Players & Teams in Other Leagues...But Come Out to a RANDOM TGPL Game & your Eyes WON'T Lie...

The Biggest Difference is the DEPTH of the Rosters...The WORST Girl on a Typical TGPL Team would Likely Be a Top 3-5 Player On Any Other '04 Squad, Probably HIGHER...

I was Completely NEW to Competitive Soccer Until my DD Started Playing a Few Years Ago, & I've Learned that The TRUE Measure of a Soccer Team is in its WORST Players, Not its Best Players...
