Another Awful Decision by FC Dallas
Kevin Hartman
Great job not resigning him FCD - another fantastically awful decision. I truly think monkeys (I am censoring myself) are running the show from the top down...

I agree. Some not so bright decisions are being made at FCD HQ... I mean, Hartman has been on ESPN highlights more than any FCD player I recall. How much marketing dollars is that worth?

Ditto. Nitwits at the top, at the bottom and on the sidelines. These people really could mess up a wet dream but support them any way because they are all we got.
On a serious note they have a plan. They plan to use the money saved on Hartman and the funds raised from the families that bought the pre-jr ecnl all expense paid academy travel team to bring in Ronaldinho for 2 seasons. I say that is pretty damn shrewd.

Hartman is a very nice guy, played great at keeper. Not sure what the deal is at FC Dallas. A couple years ago in the MLS Cup - now can't even make the playoffs. Time for a new Team direction or new head coach?

Yes. More suited for the college game where constant roster churn is part of the process for everyone.

FCD does have a capable quality up-and-comer in their backup Sanchez. I've seen Sanchez play a couple times and I like him. He doesn't have the experience Hartman brings to the party but he can definitely play. At some point they need to give these young guys a legit chance.

Seitz is the next in line - Sanchez is #3, well, 2 now. Can those guys control a weak back line better than hartman? i think not... maybe they are buying a new back line.... who knows...Hartman was willing to compromise and end his career here. He has many years left in him.
Maybe FCD will use their superior intellect, take a page from Jerry jones book and bring in beckham as the new veteran to solidify things. Hear he is looking and can bring in the $$$$$$. Cause we all know $$$$ now is what it's about. Not dynamics, or building community or even developing "homegrown" players and definately not girls! It's all about the $$$$$ NOW!!!

Gross mishandling by FCD. Great guy and community supporter. Just shows how much the Front Office is disconnected with the supporters, fans and community.
My guess is Becks is headed to NYRB, rumor has it Posh has been scouting schools for the kids in NYC.
FCD is definitley headed to another year not makingthe Playoffs in 2013, starts with the Frot Office and the older than hell Coach. Need some new blood and Hartman in goal.

Re: Another Awful Decision by FC Dallas
As happens every year the MLS Players Union has announced the salaries of all their players. I pulled out the FC Dallas salaries for you here.
A couple of quick thoughts before the list...
1. Most players, including Blas Perez, make about what I expected. That means FCD is doing a good job with their salary structure.
2. You can see Fabian Castillo was indeed a 1 year DP player as he's now on his actual salary.
3. Ricardo Villar is a steal at $80k. I would have been happy at twice that.
4. Bruno Guarda is still a bit overpaid, being a former Generation adidas that happens.
5. Andrew Wiedeman is WAY overpaid. Someone really misfired and overvalued him. He's getting paid like a U17 GA signing does, not a college GA signing. No way FCD picks that deal up when he graduates.
6. Of the protected players Ruben Luna and Bryan Leyva get paid like the prospects they are, everyone else makes backup money. I expected more for Richard Sanchez.
7. Daniel Hernandez took a big pay cut this year, about half. Which is appropriate IMO. I wonder if he gets a separate coach's salary?
8. George John is getting hosed... he should be on Ugo money. The question is, did FCD offer Ugo money or not, John turned them down but it's hard to know what they offered. Ugo is paid like a domestic starting center back should be paid. John should be very similar.
Ok here's the list, the first number is the base salary, the second is "average after bonuses."
Senior Roster
Ferreira, David $600,000.00 $705,000.00
Shea, Brek $310,000.00 $354,000.00

Loyd, Zach $73,975.00 $118,600.00
Jacobson, Andrew $87,500.00 $100,000.00
Pertuz, Hernan $84,000.00 $84,000.00
Villar, Ricardo $80,004.00 $80,004.00

Re: Another Awful Decision by FC Dallas
From "3rd Degree"
Schellas Hyndman: Kevin Hartman Our Most Consistent Player the Last Three Seasons
When all the news surrounding FC Dallas goalkeeper Kevin Hartman surfaced last week, with his camp and FCD not being able to reach financial terms, Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman was in the middle of a well-deserved week off. Hyndman has returned to the grind this week and addressed the Hartman situation by phone on Monday and here’s what he had to say.
On Hartman possibly still returning
“Kevin’s probably the most consistent player since he’s been with us the last three years. He did extremely well at the end of the year when you evaluate things and those are the reasons you love him. He’s an experienced pro and now it’s a situation where we’ve been working awfully hard with him. It’s just working with his agent, the numbers continue to get to the point of it just makes it very difficult for us. At this time, we’re not able to pick up his option but if he’s not picked up by anyone, then we have a chance to renegotiate with him. So that’s where we are. If you look at the team and you look at what the needs are and you’re working with the salary cap, these are difficult things for a lot of teams in MLS.”
Hyndman also iterated that the club was also exploring every option at keeper, including possibly bringing in a veteran like Joe Cannon or Will Hesmer, provided everything would work to the benefit of the club.
“We’re working on it. We’re looking at a lot of people. Kevin may still be back with us if he’s not picked up in the Re-Entry Draft,” he said. “In the meantime, we’re looking at players and I think we have to. But that will all be determined as we move forward.”

I am sorry for the ignorance. I am just a lowly 03 girls parent and supporter of Kevin Hartman... I am sure your inner circle of anonymous avatars knows who you are and where you are coming from. But for the rest of us, can you please explain what statement is false and how?
In other words, please give us some examples of other pro FCD players that contribute back to the youth soccer community as much as Hartman - not as part of their contract with the FCD organization - you know, on their own - creatively interacting and teaching their skill to future generations. It would actually be refreshing and inspiring to hear!

Hartman has been what has defined FCD - other have followed and built upon what he has done.
