Re: National ELite Prep Showcase
It only really matters when they are looking at the Winter National Rankings but it is fun to claim that your state has the best soccer.
Good luck to everybody this year and hope injuries are minimal.

Maybe they are not all D1 teams but still a decent number of coaches that were signed up for last year. Who knows how many actually attended or if there were others that were not on the list but I would not hesitate to invite a College Coach that I was interested in.

Looking at their site though, it appears to be of questionable value to consumers.
Anybody used them before?

Our coach requested that all girls complete the bio. I would get e-mails from them telling me that a coach had looked at her info. I didn't buy a membership, so I have no idea who looked at it. My dd was already committed.

Uncle Numanga wrote:CaptainU is probably a sponsor for NEPS. They are a recruiting website that allows you to put partial information in on your kid. The college coaches can refer to it if they are interested in your child. The problem is, if you want to know which coaches looked at your dd's page, you have to buy a membership. It may be worthwhile to some of the kids.

Got it. Thanks for the feedback.

That sound more in line with expectations. Did not see any other scores that sounded like significant upsets.

I would say Grapevine over Flower Mound was unexpected. Don't know if you'd necessarily call it an upset being the 1st game of season.

Lawnboy wrote:So have any of your DDs actually created a player profile on this CaptainU site for the NEPS? This is our first year with this. The DD got an email stating this web site was the source for player books being distributed to college coaches. And the tournament web site seems to corroborate this with a link to CaptainU's site for college coaches to register for the tournament.
Looking at their site though, it appears to be of questionable value to consumers.

Have used them on the guys side. I think there "service" is a joke. $19.95 a month to see who looked at the profile. Really? The coaches can get contact info off it and will contact the player if interested. That is the only thing of value that I see. They used to have a complimentary 3monthes when you were in one of the tourneys the were used in.

Re: National ELite Prep Showcase
Summary
WLT
Plano W: 4-0*
SL Carroll: 4-0 (without top forward)
Hebron 4-0
Marcus 3-0-1*
Coppell 2-0-1 (I could only find 3 games)
Allen 3-1 (loss to Hebron)
McBoyd 3-1 (loss to FM)
Grapevine 2-1-1
FM 1-2-1
Urs Acad 0-3-1
*Acquinas (FLA)2-1-1:
Florida state champs last 2 years; undefeated in regular soccer season with only 2 goals against in entire season(reg season completed in Florida); ranked #2 in nation (whatever that means)
In an interview coach said they came to TX tourney to prep for run at state tournament in FL. He went on to say that even though his kids had been playing, that the TX teams had been scrimmaging a bunch and were fully tuned up(not sure where he got that ... ). He said "cold weather with a low of 30 and high of 50 would be biggest factor for his warm weather team".
PW beat them and Marcus tied them ...
PW plays Marcus, Highland Park, Coppell, & Urs Acad in next few weeks prior to start of district.
