'05 Girls FBR Rankings - 09-05-2013
The teams currently listed in the FBR rankings have been confirmed as registered to play in a girls NTX academy league for Fall 2013, AND, have a minimum of 3 games played against other '05 opponents since 5/1/13. As of this posting, I do NOT have any information on teams registered to play in UAL, or PYL for Fall 2013, so if your favorite team is playing in one of those leagues, they are not listed in FBR yet.

I'm a little lost on why you would want to "work the system" for a meaningless ranking at U8?swimmingatdawn wrote:You can't blame a team for "working the system". You wouldn't believe the parents that look at this list and want there kids on a top 10 team. That's the one. They are credited with 6 wins and no losses. All of the wins are from last weekend winning the Silver bracket of the Plano Labor Day Tournament. And they did all that with guest players and guest coaching.tpitty wrote:Which one were you glaring at? Well, you've got me there. Why not find the best to compete with and against your DD? Of course, if it doesn't work out, your DD is riding the bench and you're on the sidelines alone drinking out of a Styrofoam cup mumbling about the good old days.tpitty wrote:You wouldn't believe the parents that look at this list and want there kids on a top 10 team. That only proves he handed out medals. Gonna need some sideline shots.
IMO, I don't think Coaches and parents think about these rankings when they are using or deciding to guest play, why would they? They don't use them for deciding when to guest play, although some may, but certainly do when looking to join a team.
Why would another Sting coach want to help his in club competitions Ranking? To get a nice picture for the website.

It will be interesting to see what teams have consistent rosters during league play. My bet is that at least 3 teams in the top 10 are sharing players during weekend league games (which I didn't think was allowed by NTSSA). You'll see girls walk from one field to the other. And when it's done like this, it will be about winning, not extra touches. It would be great for this group to discuss what they see, so we're all aware what's really going on.
With Lady Aztecs playing in the '04 group, can their girls play for an '05 team as well?

Yes, they can, as long as the teams play in different divisions.The.Joker wrote:I saw that guy last weekend!Lakedad wrote:Well, you've got me there. And I agree that the 'extra touches' rationale is thrown around a bit too often these days. As long as a player is seeing the field at least 70% of their own game each week, there is no immediate need for extra touches, and certainly not through back-to-back games and not in this heat. In fact, the possibility of injury or burnout would seem to offset any potential short term gains.

I know that's true for tournaments, but I don't think NTSSA allows games with different teams during league play. I may be wrong.banana kick wrote:Yes, they can, as long as the teams play in different divisions.The.Joker wrote:I saw that guy last weekend!Lakedad wrote:Well, you've got me there. Enough with the speculation! Good thing the awesome CFBAL Director, Nicole James, is on this forum and can set us straight!
Nicole, can the same player play on different teams in the same weekend during league play?

YES a player can play on as many teams as they wish during LEAGUE play. The little angel can go from field 1 at 1:00 over to field 2 at 3:00 - play for DT first game and Solar second game. There is NO rule limiting a player by North Texas. Rule was thrown out in January at the Semi-AGM.
Can an 05 player play on an 04 team - YES.
Can an 05 player play on an 06 team - NO!
Can an 05 player play on an 06 team that is playing in an 05 division - YES, BUT the appearance isn't fair. Your team is registered as an 06 -therefore your players should be of that age group.
I hope I have put all of the curiousity to rest...............see you on the pitch!
Re: '05 Girls FBR Rankings - 09-05-2013
What is the reasoning or logic behind allowing players to play on numerous teams and for numerous clubs? It is not allowed when they get to league play at the "select" level. Some will say that a player is getting extra touches while some will say it's stacking the deck for rankings, especially when the bench is full of existing teammates. Why can't coaches be made to play with the roster they chose at the start of the season?

Re: '05 Girls FBR Rankings - 09-05-2013
3.10.3
Soccer Academies
1. A “Soccer Academy” is a group of Under 7 through Under 10 registered NTSSA recreational players who desire to participate with other players without following the recreational team formation rules. Players must register with their home association and may or may not be on a recreational team, unless required to be on a recreational team by their home association. Academies are to be governed by NTSSA Youth Associations, and NTSSA Youth Associations may host as many Soccer Academies as they deem desirable. Academy teams are governed by the league in which they participate. (If more than one association is involved in an academy league an A&D committee should be in place.)
2. Coaches, trainers, administrators, etc., of Soccer Academies must have satisfactorily passed the criminal background check and information sent to NTSSA.
3. Soccer Academy play is in addition to recreational play. Players may join any Soccer Academy of their choosing within their age group, and are not required to obtain a release from their NTSSA recreational team to participate on an Academy team. Players must present a form of proof of registration signed by their home association registrar each time they participate with an Academy. Players may join as many Soccer Academies as they like as long as the Soccer Academy is recognized by a North Texas Soccer Member Youth Association. No formal contract or written commitment may be signed by or on behalf of the player to commit a player to an Academy team. The Academies may charge a fee to cover expenses in addition to the player’s recreational soccer registration fees. Academy players may participate in only one Academy tournament at a time. Violations of this rule shall result in sanctions against the offending party (coach, assistant coach, manager, parent, or other team representative), which could include suspension from all soccer activities for a period of time.
4. Member Associations may provide league play if they have enough teams, or may coordinate with other Member Associations to provide a league or games between Soccer Academy teams from different home associations. Age division play will be designated as Under 7 through Under 10. Scores and standings should not be kept.
5. Soccer Academy teams are not considered “registered teams,” and therefore do not have to follow recreational team formation rules. Soccer Academy teams may not enter NTSSA sanctioned tournaments unless the tournament has specified a “Soccer Academy” bracket. In that event, players must declare which Soccer Academy team they will play with in the tournament and may only play for one team in a tournament. Soccer Academy teams may not travel out of NTSSA as a team to play in tournaments.
6. Soccer Academy rosters may change from week to week to accommodate players desiring to change Soccer Academies, or to accommodate players who want to play on one team one week and another team the next week.
7. The purposes of the Soccer Academies are to:
a. Provide recreational players who have aspirations of becoming a more accomplished player an avenue to test and enhance his or her skills.
b. Provide recreational players an opportunity to train with experienced coaches.
c. Provide recreational players an opportunity to investigate the level of play with which they are comfortable, which players they would like to play with, and for which coaches they would like to play.
8. Recruiting is not allowed on Soccer Academy teams. Soccer Academies are to be used for training, not recruiting.
9. For the purpose of this rule, all players participating in a Soccer Academy who are also registered with an NTSSA Member youth association recreational or recreational plus team shall, in the event of a conflict, consider the NTSSA recreational team or recreational plus team to be their primary team and the Soccer Academy as a secondary commitment.

Why is the appearance unfair? It would only be unfair if the team was playing in the 06 age group with an 05 on the roster.CFBSA wrote:Let's get this player playing on mulitple teams straight:

I would assume it has something to do with the game report as well as the gotsoccer account setup as a U8 team. If they change the name to an 05 team and change game report and gotsoccer to U9 then it would be a none issue I would guessWESLEYCRUSHERS wrote:Why is the appearance unfair?
