Go- I would not begin to challenge your vast knowledge- I am sure you are right and those two girls will not play in tournaments and/or practice with their 03 team..

I agree,,, sting has several 04 teams may need one good team. Only great team I see is Scarfone, or am I mixing it with Goodman.

Texas Spirit is coming up but needs more 11vs11 experience.

LFS... not sure what is going on there.... good or bad... they are continueing on.

Wouldn't know but I am under the impression that you can only be on one roster in select. Not sure what team they are on either but if it's a different club they will even need a practice release to practice with their 03 team.

Depends on what you call "alot" of change... I put the 9/27/12 FBR ranking next to each team. Keep in mind that several of the teams went through coach/club changes in the year leading up to select, so the names are different.

By my count, 15/20 (75%) of the teams in the top 20 of the 9/27/12 FBR qualified for D1, including every single one of the top 10. I would count one additional team (LP Keegan) as a "borderline" D1 team on 9/27/12 given their ranking of #24 (#22 if you toss out the 2 teams in the 9/27/12 rankings that dissolved before getting to select - SRSA Missimo and Solar Kennington).

So in reality, there were really only 4 teams (Andromeda, LP Barnes, FCD South, and Warriors) that "came out of nowhere" from the start of U10 to qualify for D1 at U11. ...and you could even make a case that LP Barnes didn't really come out of nowhere. They were a top 15 team throughout U9 (as Polaris Black) that went through kind of a "down period" during the transition to U10, and were in and out of the top 25 at various times throughout U10, and were back in the top 20 by the time the final pre-QT FBR came around.

If I went back and did a similar analysis for the '01's and '02's, I'm pretty sure it would come out about the same.

Agreed that the landscape can look much different in 10 months time. Factors that can play into this are:
-teams that are on the verge of collapse not making come signing day
-teams who used talented U9's to help them during the season can't help them anymore
-teams getting bad draws in LHGCL QT
-teams consolidating strongest players to become competitive

This being said, looking at this weeks '04s ranking, I see a big drop-off outside of the top 30. The question that is much more interesting is what teams will move up into D1 and which ones will drop down into D3.

I agree with Gophers that the landscape doesn't look much different (depending on your view of different).  You can go back to the June 2012 FBR for the '03s and 16 of the 20 teams that went on to LHGCL Div 1 were already ranked in the top 25.  The other 4 were FC Dallas South ranked at 41 and then 3 teams that maybe didn't exist yet: Andro, DT Moreno and Warriors.

I would imagine that there will be some teams shifting around and combining this spring in the 04 group as well.

I think old boy meant "baked goods" in his post above and I would think someone with such vast knowledge of the 04 landscape would have known that her addition to the Scott team was not just a rumor. And as good a player as "sweet thing" is, the team is much more than that and would probably fare pretty well without.

5 LP teams in D1? I guess maybe since there are 20 teams in D1the first year and the club has like what 10+ 04 teams, so would hope a few would be good enough to get in. Maybe a few of those bottom LP teams should do some consolidatin' so the talent won't be so watered down.

With respect to Spirit, no consolidation needed (by either side - Plano or Flower Mound). With regards to picking up more talent, now that's always welcome if it'll make the team stronger.

It's unclear who you are referring to when you say Texas Spirit. There are two distinct teams - Texas Spirit and Texas Spirit North. If you mean Texas Spirit North, then your comment about needing more 11v11 experience certainly applies to us. Most of the top teams started the 11v11 thing last fall so have a bit of a head start, however I must say that it doesn't seem to be mattering that much. Still basically comes down to talent and coaching.

FCD is a mess.  The former Beardsley players should get out while they can.  But FCD will drop a top name coach and poach like crazy and put out a solid D1 team.  FYI beware of guys in stripe shirts floating around your team with promises of ECNL

Gophers, which team has moved up the farthest in the last 4 months on a percentage basis?

I didn't specify which FCD But I have no doubt FCD premier will be a top 10 team by select because they will add. But FCD is the largest club in NTX so it's top team not even in the conversation of top teams doesn't exactly say tidy. So I am stading by my mess assesment.

LP Redknapp and Aces Black have made the biggest jumps.  
Redknapp last November 37th, February 33rd, 6/11 26th, 6/25 24th, 9/3 18th, 9/10-current 16th.
Aces 49th on 5/28 and 19th currently.
