Re: '00 ECNL Preseason Ranking- How they Looking?
It'll be a quiet weekend. The only thing to look forward to is to see if FCD can close the PPG gap against AHFC. Also, if Lonestar can keep their no-lost streak going.Packrabbit wrote:One weekend, New Rankings

I believe Tiger posted above that he saw the player literally palm the ball out of air, completed a behind the back move, cross-dribbled between her legs, and when the ball dropped, it bounced off her foot into her hand AND then the whistle was blown...DDdad wrote:I understand the rule and was actually discussing it today at lunch. What happened gets called a handball in North Texas 9 out of 10 times. Ball hit her knee, bounced up and hit her face and hit her hand on the way down. Certainly was not deliberate and I would argue that the ball hitting her face had more to do with the play than her hand but the ruling was at least consistent with what I saw happening in the game and over the last several years. It easily could have been a no call IMO but it is what it is. Eye of the beholder. I think we all groaned because we knew a free kick was coming but not because it was an outrageous call. I do, however, stand by my assessment of it being inadvertent.

Or maybe that was the Ntx basketball forum...
Sounds like a tough loss-- hopefully the young lady, called for the handling, and the keeper knows that "stuff happens" and that matches are won and lost as a team, not individually.
Personally, I prefer to place blame for ALL LOSSES on the coach.

It was not close to the box. Maybe 40 yd line. Not a game changing call when it was made and he made several of the same ilk all game long.
By U14, these girls have played an average of 50 games per year w/ tournaments since they were 7 or 8 so figure 300 games +. They have seen it all. We've won some that way and lost some that way and sometimes its your DD and sometimes it's someone else. Without a question a team loss. If we'd scored twice, it would not have mattered. This was not a National Finals. Sucks but you move on. Next time the bounce goes your way.
