They never pulled their goalie in the LFS game. I saw the RASE goalie punt the ball a few times so she must have used her hands at some point. And to claim LW doesn't care when he was putting starters back in at the end . . .
Certainly not trying to imply LFS should have won. But the LFS goalie only had to make half a dozen saves, and most of those were rollers. Sure, a few nice shots missed the goal, but total shots between the posts was less than 10.
People blame the score on the "offside trap" played simultaneously with the "parked bus."
You can't play the offside trap if the ball is always in your own defensive third, as some have claimed.
And apparently, if their team was playing RASE, and the ball were in their defensive third, they would still expect their midfielders to play forward and not help to defend.
So - RASE couldn't score because of the offside trap? So wouldn't that make the trap successfully run by the LFS girls? Great for them! Last time I checked, minimizing goals against in a game was a good strategy.
Yes - saw the trap played effectively - so I guess it is LFS's fault that RASE couldn't adjust?
RASE played some great soccer - but the LFS girls worked hard and should be applauded for their effort. They attacked every ball, pressured the RASE girls, and never backed down. Their aggressive play substantially limited RASE's ability to get off good shots.
Sure - the LFS parents were excited that their girls work hard and were rewarded for their efforts - #19 held #1 to a 2-0 win. Sad thing was, after their 10-year-old daughters worked equally hard to get the win, not too much cheering or congratulations from the RASE side.
Exactly the game I witnessed as well. JK had a strategy, as he did a couple years ago when he beat them when my DD was playing for him. Bottom line, LW could not adjust to the offside trap and when they tried, even by bringing his defenders to the forward 3rd of the field, LFS played them tight. I also saw a lack of confidence by him or his back 3, as they seldom dropped the ball back to reset and counter-attack. Fear of loss, in my opinion. Oh, not to mention many of missed or weak-shot slow-rollers by the LW's forwards. Again, the game I witnessed, and are they beatable? Without a doubt, time will tell, or maybe even another hour or so.

Actually they did drop the ball back all the way to the keeper but that doesn't work if the other team doesn't come out to pursue. Are RASE beatable? sure everyone is and eventually they will be but look again because it isn't going to be today. LFS white executed a game plan to take a loss but limit the damage and executed it perfectly but that doesn't equal the collapse of RASE as suggested.

Not the point. We are talking about a team crowned as de facto uno despite not even playing most of the top 5 in the past 12 months.
Did they win a tournament of 04s? Yes. Were the margins of victory any different than the other top teams playing same competition..... No.
That is the point. At least now no disclaimers needed for FBR right?

I will have to agree with this. Are they the best 04 team out there? Probably. But, the loss of a few of the players is evident. As far as LFS goes, I think someone has their "studs" mixed up. The one I consider the "stud" was playing today.

Re: 04 PrimeTime Sports Cup Championship - Accepted Teams
The year hiatus lead me to believe when they revisited 04 girls they would score effortlessly. Wasn't the case but...they do have a game plan and they do execute it well...very poised and comfortable in their system...JK made a second half adjustment and I did see vulnerability. Great 1on 1 save by RASE keeper...that forward had it in the bag. LFS missed another by about 6inches...
LFS started rather off slow and apparently RASE isn't the team to do that with!!
It was an eye opener...
