Who's ready for some cold soccer!!!
Thankfully I no longer have to sit out in the cold (and I sure didn't stop it when my DD was growing up) but man I'd love to see someone say, "hmm the wind chill is a -2 for the majority of the games, we probably shouldn't be playing outside today." Won't happen but it would be nice.

DDsdadforsoccer wrote:Ah yes it's to cold to play soccer. But playing in the cold with the pig skin when you stand around is okay. The high is 48 or so on Saturday pretty cold for these parts but not insane. Miserable for parents no doubt but the kiddos probably don't even feel it when they are playing. Get a thick jacket, put on a hat and some gloves. It's bad but it's not that bad. I think the kids complain more when they hear it from the parents on how cold it is. There is some sort of crazy fandum of weather in this state. Watching the news I would swear the a blizard was due this weekend. Just remember to bring a flask with something warm to drink and you might make it through the weekend.
Exactly! I show it getting to the 50's Saturday. Sack up there people! A little Baileys and Coffee will go a long way too! Maybe a little SHINE too! hahaha

Now that was cold.
At least for the parents. (and that poor player who didn't have gloves)
I think most the girls had a blast (except for the goalies )

lurkeruntilnow wrote:You are right...that is the HIGH for Saturday. I was speaking more to like the 8am 9am games where its 38 with a feeling of 31. Call me soft I guess. Teaching my daughter frozen soccer at the age 8 is not really important to me at the moment. But like I said...you can call me soft...or a realist. I don't live vicariously through my daughter. To each his own.
I'm not sure how what I said makes me live vicariously through my daughter. However, compared to Ayses tourney 3 years ago where it was 17 degrees at kickoff. with ice on the floor, and snow falling. Frooze my but off watching my son at 10 run ll over the pitch. Kid never complained one bit. Me however, complained the whole time rather then enjoying the moment with my son playing the game he enjoys playing. They still talk about that day years later and how he was stronger for fighting through it. Yes it's cold folks but as I said earlier not as cold as they have played in. Dress warm. Make sure something is in your flask to keep you warm. Enjoy the memories. Because before you know it your Boy or girl grows up leaves the house. Now if you want cold, and empty house without the sweet laughing, or gloves to look at or stories to tell.
Dress warm folks dress warm.

Re: Who's ready for some cold soccer!!!
So listen up parents if you want to give you kids one of the greatest memories of their lives, and quite possibly a life lesson equivalent of storming the beach of Normandy that they can reflect on later in life when things get tough as proof that they can accomplish anything then by all means get them out there and play some soccer in sub freezing temperatures
Those memories are priceless for every 8, 9, or 10 year old. So stop being a bad parent and get them out there while you are over there drinking from your flask wrapped up in a sleeping bag yelling at them to be more aggressive.
