One of our coaches was told by a NTX source that there was a growing consensus to NOT allow the Jan-July 06 birthdays to go select this summer.  He was told the rec associations would like to vote for those kids to stay U10 one more year, keep the rule as it and the 06's caught up in this to repeat one year of academy.  I'm thinking to possibly collect or recoup money from those kids still playing rec soccer, who knows.  

He said even though the NTX Youth Commissioner has suggested that kids should be able to play up, it's all going to come down to the vote in November and the rec associations that cast the votes might win.  

Anyone else hear anything about this?

Most academy players today do not play rec now.  Once you go select you still have to register players with a home association so they are still going to get that fee.  

I've heard they will allow 06's to play up so players have the option to stay with current team (if current team is moving up) or find a new team in their age group.  I don't see why having options is a bad idea.

I completely agree. Most academy kids in the U10 age group don't play rec, and I don't understand why they won't allow the 06's to have a choice to stay with their current team or stay in academy for one more year.

I'm just relaying information that was given to our coach, then posting it on here hoping that someone could give me some more insight.
I even made a call to NTX and they said that there was indeed a growing group (and I'm assuming rec association presidents/boards) who would like to have all the 06's repeat one more academy year for various reasons - money, age, etc. They also said it will all come down to the vote. LH and Plano etc, are NTX sanctioned.

But then again, we could always go play in a US Club Soccer Competitive league - no select age rules there.

Big clubs prove once again who calls the shots in NTX soccer.

I'm curious to see what U11 looks like next year. Will there even be enough teams to have a QT? '06s can't play up, and I assume the current '05s will not want to play 9v9 after two years of 11v11.

There will always be enough teams ready to jump into LH. The real question is how competitive will u11 be? You essentially cut the age group that should be going select at least in half. And as you said, how many quality 05's will want to play down?
If nothing else, the big clubs can always f.orce p(l)ayers to play down.

I second that, from an admirer from afar. Too far for practice currently, but bring it north, and I have an AP 06 ready to join, and she can bring friends.

He doesn't need many for 7v7.

North Texas wasn't a meeting but a discussion. Triumph wasn't there as I was traveling back from Huntington Beach with the 03's
Nothing will be voted on until the AGM
U10's are not allowed to play up now so nothing will change if it gets voted out.
If age pure doesn't come in until mandated in 2017 then the Jan-July 06's are going select
Of course wouldn't make sense for a year then told you now of a choice to replay your U11 year of select.
It's all if's but's and what's right now and until that changes then there is nothing to write about unless people want to scaremonger

There are several parents and players that travel from up north on the current roster. The training and soccer instruction your DD will get is definitely worth the drive.
Better still, between your DD and her friends, and planogirl's DD, a nice carpool could be in the works.

As of right now until age pure is implemented the Jan-July are going select so that has to change first. We all know it's coming it's when not if.
