Age Pure and Small-Sided - US Soccer Official Announcement

Just curious what are the top 06 teams age mix of starters (Jan-July 06 and Aug - Dec 05)? And, will they play up or go AP 06?

Sting Black 06 has 6 of 9 starters that are Jan-July 06, but is undecided
Kicks Selecao - not sure of mix but sounds like going to play 05
DTS - sounds like will go AP for 06 & AP for 05
Solar - ?
Kicks JM - ?
Kicks North -?
FCD - ?
Feet - ?
Triumph - ?
Bellatores - ?

4 of our starting 9 are 06's and will go select with us. Just realized all 4 06's on the squad start

Our '06 goalie is an ap '06.

We wont have a definitive answer to that question until LHGCL states exactly how they will handle qualifying next fall.

I know what I have theorized... but in all honesty I was just sitting around bored!

There will be a QT next summer, well I hope there is at least, for all the AP 05 kids to qualify for LH. Which should also include any AP 06s that are allowed to play up into U11...

saying that NTX does in fact remove the rule about playing up into select...

We are all screwed and the soccer world will end tomorrow or we can keep bringing up the same questions over and over that no one can answer at this time.

You guys are focusing on the younger age groups, but what about say the U16's now that is a mix of '99 and '00 birthdays. These teams will have to be split up and that just doesn't seem right. My DD has played with the same core group of 7-8 since U9 academy and now they will have to split. My DD falls into an older group as a 99 and since she is young at school (junior year) but older on her team she only has 1 year of select remaining after this and she will be forced to go play for a different team due to this. There are some teams in the 2000's (U16) that are split 50/50 on years so they will be pulled apart and not all are big clubs that can easily reload the talent. Seems to me a phased implementation where the older groups were left alone to finish there select careers would have made more sense and not affected so many adversely.

Makes absolutely no sense to not grandfather in the older groups like 00's. This will probably tear apart a bunch of teams. Really a shame.

exactly. where is the leadership in north texas? why is it no one has the will or the heart to take this on? frogs slowly boiling in wayer as the heat is turned up and common sense turned off.

It's an exercise in futility to analyze anything other than implementation.

Not going to claim this is 100% going to happen but one coach said from the meeting attended Sunday night that it was said that current (older) teams would go by the age of the oldest player to stay together and keep that "bye" although that would mean the younger players would technically be playing up. Also the club would have to decide if they will allow teams to not be "age pure". Lots of holes to still be filled in.

The net I take from all this is teams that want to stay together, should have no problems staying together. Teams that break up over this, probably would've broken up anyway.

Those who seek to have drama in their lives will find a way to manufacture drama out of this situation. The rest of us realize that this isn't the end of the world, will navigate this change with minimal stress, and realize that there will be no long-term damage to our kids, no matter how and when things are implemented.

that's a bit of an oversimplification. I would bet that 90% of the parents, kids, and coaches involved with club soccer will have more than minimal stress.

I agree it's not the end of the world, but it's certainly a material change to our current soccer world, with some very real-world consequences for a LOT of people.

It all depends on what your definition of "very real-world consequences" is.

Personally, there are about a million or so things that could happen in my or my DD's life that carry far greater real-world consequences than her possibly having to change soccer teams.

Again, those who need or want drama in their life will find a way to manufacture it.

Yes that is exactly what is going to happen. If anyone really still doesn't understand what is happening PM and I'll be happy to explain it to you. It's already decided and moves have already taken place to help offset the only real damage that will be initially felt, and that's on the clubs and leagues themselves. This is a win win all the way around for the parents and the kids and soccer.

But they see the future and they are fully on board now. This is happening and it's happening all at once and happening every where across the board. There will be no hold outs. Everyone either has a parachute or even better a clear vision. And the soccer world will forever be changed and no longer recognizable. But initially we'll hardly see a dent in the change. But it will happen drastic and sudden. And it will be glorious and brilliant.

What you are talking about sounds awesome; but it seems more like the book of Revelation than soccer. are we still talking about soccer?

Can you, rather succinctly explain why? In my view, it separates classmates needlessly. It results in no more competitive advantage or disadvantage- just choices for say, a 7th grader, to decide if she wants to play with other 7th graders and 8th graders, or else other 7th graders and 6th graders.

If they want to play with mainly kids in their own grade, well, sorry that's just not an option.

It's not about her losing her age advantage over her competition, it's only about wanting to play with her classmates.

Kind of like saying 'It's not about the money'
