04 AP Team Selections

It's funny, all these big clubs keep putting Jr this and Jr that on these recruiting post on this PDL thing and it seems like they all know PDL has zero to do with ECNL. I've heard from so many parents that keep saying but this coach told me its Jr ECNL. It's a lie plain and simple! The only thing made available by Jr ECNL are the Jr ECNL events put on by ECNL! Isn't it enough to have ECNL as a recruiting tool? Why lie to people and mislead them into believing PDL is the next greatest thing? NTX soccer never disappoints in over the top garbage!!

I for one like the idea of composite teams, this will generate more opportunities for young ladies all around the country to participate in ECNL and gain those experiences.

Simply put, the five DFW ECNL clubs all have Jr ECNL programs at U13 (04 this year). They will participate in 3 official regional Jr ECNL events over the upcoming year in Tulsa, Dallas and Houston.

As mentioned earlier and I think you understand, the new LH league is not an ECNL program and there likely aren't any Coaches at this level 'misleading' parents to think it is. It is a league being put together by LH at the request of the DFW ECNL clubs to increase consistency of higher level competition.

So just to be clear, the big 5 requested a league where no scores and no standings would be kept to create a higher level of consistent competition? Now I'm really confused!!

That makes no sense at all Big E? In an earlier post you referenced LH creating this league because they were in jeopardy of falling to Plano level? Which is it Big E?

Oh and if you think coaches aren't linking PDL with ECNL you better ask somebody, because it's happening everywhere. Just read all the teams looking post for PDL teams. Some people are even calling it Jr PDL.

So PDL will have 4 really good teams and 6 OK-to-mediocre teams.  And there will be no score keeping or standings.  But everyone will get orange slices at halftime.

Tell me why everyone was ready to bury LH when DA was announced but LH comes up with a way to sucker back in the ECNL clubs, to pay LH more money and all of a sudden everybody jumps right on it and can't wait to give LH their hard-earned money again?

With how competitive soccer around here........someone will come out with an FBR for this league!!!!

So does this mean since the new league caters to the Jr ECNL events in Tulsa, Austin and Houston that these teams are most likely going to play all their tournaments at Jr ECNL venues as well? If so then there won't be any opportunity for outside teams to even play these teams at all??

this maybe having an effect on the landscape because i heard the LP Elite gang was pretty deep in Frisco last night

From my understanding most of the PDL teams will also play D1 as well. I think Sting and Solar are the only two clubs that will have separate teams for D1 and PDL. Jr ECNL is a whole different ball game, that is where the big 5 will field their potential ECNL teams for u14. I would expect those Jr ECNL teams to have both D1 players and PDL players mixed. I'm also hearing there will be a lot of Dual rostering going on between PDL and D1 teams. This should be very interesting to say the least.

Not surprised at all by this, as I would it expect U11-U13 to look much like U14 has the past couple of years.  At U14 there is a lot of dual rostering that happens as clubs form their ECNL teams while doing what they need to do to hold on to their D1 byes in LH.  At U11-U13 it will be a combination of holding on to byes in LH, coupled with PDL not providing any path to a regional or national championship format similar to what USYSA provides with State Cup->Regionals->Nationals.

Most clubs/coaches/parents will not want to pass on the opportunity to gain State Cup glory and beyond.  If there are any clubs/coaches that don't care about the USYSA route, they will likely still be forced to care by the parents who will take their stud DD's elsewhere if that opportunity isn't provided to them.

Since they're not keeping score I guess I cant say its all about winning in 2016/17 but I can say with all the hype they about to win those $$$! Pay me!

Top talent and coaches are naturally being drawn to ECNL clubs and this will continue to be the case. ECNL clubs have/will be forming "2nd" teams identified as "composite". Additionally, ECNL is now starting at younger ages (as young as U8) and you'll see these groups begin to form in NTX soon. This year, the ECNL and ECNL composite will make up the first and second tier. As I'm sure you've heard, next year with the introduction of USSF DA, there will be 3 top tiers of young ladies competing outside of LH for AP 04 age group and up, and potentially as young as AP 07.

So to spell it out once again ... This season, the top 2 teams (which now will include many of the stronger players from the non ECNL club teams) for each of the 5 DFW ECNL clubs will not be playing in LH D1/D2. And next year (16/17) two of those ECNL clubs will have their 4th team competing in LH D1. It is undeniable that LH D1/D2 will not be the same going forward --
