Re: ECNL swings back at DA
What if I can not field the teams that USSDA wants me to or what if I can not fund it the way I should be able to in the model? Now what do I do? Gamble either way.

Certainly, that is the case. Austin deserves competition.
But, one would expect ECNL to at least require a club to have a team in age groups.
Sting Austin doesn't even have Academy aged girls teams, nor a u11 (they list one in gotsoccer but the team doesn't exist), u13, u14 team. The u12 team plays in almost the lowest league available here in STX, which is rec level in NTX.
ECNL and Sting Dallas are essentially banking on league status to BUILD a club.
You're assuming that the Sting Austin players (and maybe even teams) actually need to be from Austin...

I imagine Sting won't have too much trouble pulling Lonestar Black girls over. And in a weakened ECNL, I imagine they'll be competitive.
Tulsa will be strong, but unless Sting Dallas holds onto all their players, ECNL is going to be a competitive shadow of it's former self. Challenge and Albion are losing a handful of top players to Dash, Classics Elite and D'Feeters aren't considered to be all that outstanding, the Big 3 will be entering their 2nd teams.
I imagine the Lonestar Black, errr, Sting Austin teams will hold their own just fine.

I was just stirring things up a bit. I would imagine that KM has a clear plan in place. Between Lonestar defections, Sting's recent announcement of a Sting San Antonio division, and, if needed, some backfill of players from Dallas, they'll have it covered.

I just read some posts on STX forum. It seems that while there are reservations about the facilities and coaches, many players will give Sting strong consideration.

As they should. Playing on a showcase team while still playing school sports is a good thing for many kids. They won't be the more dedicated soccer players, but still will need an avenue to play competitive soccer while still doing cheerleading, flag corp, drill team, etc.
