Race to the finish - v2 Empty Race to the finish - v2

Post by 05girls 28/03/17, 11:25 am

Now that we have ice cream, the discussion on #4, skiberdads identity and a post from years ago out of the way... thoughts on the stretch run? Or does nobody care Bc DTS has established supremacy. Byars and West limping to the finish. Solar Haylock surging. Can FCD White pull it together these last few games?

Who takes spots 5-9 as 1-4 seem pretty solid?

Race to the finish - v2 Empty Re: Race to the finish - v2

Thank you.  There are so many variables.

5.  Sting East
6.  Solar Haylock
7.  Kicks JM
8.  Sting West

7&8 might switch.

I've considered several scenarios for the 9th spot.  It comes down to four teams, Byars (24 pts), FCD North (23 pts), Triumph (21pts) DT Central (20 pts), and four games:  Solar Byars v. Sting East; and FCD North v. Sting West; and DT Central v. Fever; Triumph v. Kicks JM - all but the last are on April 8.

They could all end at 27 points.

Solar Byars (24 pts) v. Sting East. Byars will lose to DTS and likely beat Sting Bean.  Will Solar bring in some help against Sting East?  A draw, and 28 pts., might be enough.  A win all but locks it up.  There's no JDL conflict, but Colvin plays Pulp just a little later in the day.

FCD North (23pts) v. Sting West.  FCD North should beat Sting Guzman, but lose to LPE. A draw against Sting West gets them to 27 points.

Triumph (21pts) v. Kicks JM.  If Triumph gets past Liverpool Redknapp, a win against Kicks JM on the last day gets them to 27 points.

DT Central (20pts) v. Fever.  DT Central has winnable games against Sting Bean and Shepard.  If they can draw against Fever, that gets them to 27 points.

As I understand the tiebreaker rules (and please someone correct me if I'm wrong), a 4-way tie between these teams results in a DT Central v. Byars playoff game.

A 3-way tie involving DT Central results in a playoff game with DT Central against Solar Byars or the winner of an initial Solar Byars/Triumph playoff game.

A 3-way tie without DT Central results in a Solar Byars v. Triumph game.

2-way ties come down to head-to-head and there were a few draws amongst these teams, so a playoff game.

So, you can see how DT Central must earn a draw against Fever and FCD North has its work cut out for them and the Sting West game is a must win.

My prediction?  12-year olds will screw it all up.  But Solar Byars grabs the 9th spot in regulation or through the playoff game.

That would be fun having to play byars in a playoff game with the JDL season over.

I think west gets 2 wins and a tie down the stretch to finish 5th. Haylock gets 2 wins and a loss to finish 6th. Byars will get one of the remaining spots. East will as well. I think FCD north is on the outside looking in.

It surprised me that FCD tied Sting East. With that if they can win 2 of 3 then they will prob get in. If not then they need lots of help. Byars gets in on points with no help. For anyone else to squeak in would require Kicks JM OR or Sting West to falter.

dont the same end of season rules apply? 1 CPP along with all the dual rostered players. Do not see it being very different than regular season.

I would suspect that several of them are already dual rostered.

Definitely dual rostered. I just meant that Byars has struggled Bc of his team having conflicts with the JDL season. If that was over, it would be all hands on deck. Come to find out, JDL is still going for another month.

Don't count out DT Central either, they should get wins over Shepard and Bean. If they can sneak out a point on Fever they could catch Byars and they have the head to head. The Byars Sting East game is huge IMO. Bussey could call for some South help too!

If I remember correctly, Shepard beat Central 1-0 in Qualifying sending them to the second week! I would guess Central will be up for that one!
