I embrace the rankings and I think they are helpful in gauging what type of team we may be facing or what the dedication level of a coach and his players might be. However, I also believe that when too much effort or time is placed into what ranking a team may be or how a tournament should be seeded then I bet there is some extra pressure to succeed that is placed on the 8 year old due to a parent’s “insane” and obsessive, even habitual stalking of this page. All I’m saying is that if your kid has the goods, they will be playing for the best teams in the city, state and country at some point. Don’t rush them into pressure filled situations because 1 is playing 4 or 6 is playing 10. Just let them be little girls and forget about the extra pressure of rankings. Otherwise, your child may lose the love for the game and all of this parental banter would have been useless and pointless.

Oh goodie! Another tired debate over who is taking youth soccer too seriously and one parent telling other parents they don't know and have never met that they are going ruin soccer for their DD based upon message board banter. We haven't seen this before! Move along, nothing to see here.

So, looks like we had another fun weekend of Samba vs Covey and the infamous 3-3 tie wasn't a fluke. Between another tie and a close final, the games seem to be very competitive.

I would seed Rush 1 and Scarfone and Angelone tied for 2.  ESC is an unknown so they could be a top 4 team or be the worst out of 8 so put them in Rush's bracket and balance them out by putting the clear 8 seed, Moreno, in the other bracket with Scarfone and Angelone.  The final 3 teams of Colvin, Covey and Spirit are fairly even so plug them in the remaining slots.  This would assure us a quality playoff.  

Since you're doing pre-tournament seeding, I'm curious why you seeded ESC in the top bracket/top 8. They may be phenomenal, but it would require knowledge of the OK teams. Their Gotsoccer game history's most recent results are from April and they have no history against TXN teams. Are you familiar with that team?

I admit it's difficult to seed ESC based upon so little but the reason I thought they might justify a top 4 seeding is b/c looked closely at their gotsoccer profile and they have played Celtic Khehans (OK) 4 times over the course of the last year and beat them all 4 times with a combined score of 24-3. That same Celtic team tied Angelone 2-2 and lost 5-0 a few weeks ago and the next weekend tied Covey 3-3 and lost 3-2. They went 0-2-2 against Angelone and Covey but it's likely ESC is a much better team than Knehans. That is why I seeded them 4th and balanced them out on the other side with what appears to be the clear 8 seed in Moreno (still a solid team, so no disrespect intended). If ESC ends up being weak then Covey or Colvin would strengthen that side of the bracket. If you put ESC on the same side as 2 other top 3 teams and they are strong then we could see an early exit for a top 3 team and a much less challenging run for one top team than the others.

Rumor is these 8 won't all be the teams we see in gold so you can disregard the post all together anyways.

Cern, it's all good. I respect your intent. My DD will likely quit soccer when she is 13 and boys are more interesting than a game and I will get my weekends back (see username).

Got it, good rationale. Looks like it should be a nice weekend for soccer.

My concern is the organizers will chicken out and set up totally separate 4 team brackets to make sure half the teams get medals. Or even worse, 6 team brackets where each team does not play the same schedule because of cross play. 8 teams make the most sense and gives room for the Oklahoma team which I assume is coming down for the competition and not trophy hunting.
