Well, DT Williams signed up for it, so cheers to them for wanting to play the top teams. And, who knows, maybe they picked up a few new players or guests since league play. Gotta play the games.

Agree. Given they are 8, who knows who will make the semis. I always do love to see an underdog prevail.

True... but that could be said for any team. In all likelihood Williams is a silver team that thinks they are gold. I do give them props for not shying away from competition or caring about wins and losses. #itsallaboutdevelopment Smile

Exactly.

The girls will be ok. Its the parents that will need consoling in the end given the outcome. so may as well put them in the grinder and see what ya working with.

Nobody has even debated the latest FBR... this age group of parents seems relatively tame to me.

Agree with both of you JST and ProphAC. I really like the methodology behind FBR. I think it's a very important tool for teams to reference when trying to strike the balance between putting DDs into playing experiences that best facilitate development, while also not making their playing experience so miserable (getting smoked every game) that they lose interest in the game.

Winter seems to be the time for player movement at this age. Hopefully Colvin will add a few more if needed; Colvin is a good coach and seems to focus on player development.

he seems well composed during matches...and encourages and corrects his players. thats a great sign.

I heard they have enough players to play but thought it was best to pull out. Colvin has the reputation of a great coach and his sideline seems to love him. My interactions with him have been positive.

That doesn't make sense, pull out of the best tournament of the year and the last full sided tournament this year.

8 players in a potentially 5 game 7v7 tournament.... makes sense to me. They are playing in a Pit winter league so they will get plenty of touches this winter. It's all good.

5 games in 48 hours will already be tough; with 8 players, it would have been unreasonable.

They are still around and playing in this upcoming tournament...They played up in league play as well as last weeks tournament

So I'm hearing that the director tried to make some changes to balance out the divisions but certain teams or team objected to it so the brackets are staying the same... anyone else hear this?

Yes, I heard the same thing. I did wonder though why the tournament director would reach out in the first place after the brackets were posted. Maybe someone in the group of death reached out to the director trying to get an easier draw?
