I think the narrowing of options has more to do with player attrition to other sports/activities than it does anything else.

The difference I see is more regional and national competition within leagues. Metro plex, playing not only each other but add Texas Houston, Colorado , Kansas City, Oklahoma. This makes for a pretty salty division.

JDL is a joke. Some coaches trying to win every game and other coaches using it for development. Key word is “development”. Suppose to be a pool of which players are chosen and coached by a pool of coaches. Lol. So not what is occurring. Take that back....their are a couple of groups doing it right.

So who doing it 'right'? I see same coaches week in week out for better or worse. Curious who using pool of coaches. Maybe I missed something.

People paying to play was sold a bad bill of goods Zizou. Development is a joke don't alienate the rest of us. There is lots of kids playing soccer that don't need your sales pitch.

Lots of skilled kids never see the field or minimally see the field. They are not big enough or fast enough. Funny part is the big fast athletic kids will eventually phase out because they are not skilled enough.

My question is....what percent should one be playing at this age level? In my belief if it’s less than 70% then you are on wrong team.

I agree, I guess the question is if everyone on a team gets 70% of the game, how does a coach hold onto their “superstars” whose parents are demanding 95-100% playing time.

You’re that parent. The one who sets arbitrary percentages, doesn’t appreciate that some positions are more taxing than others, isn’t team-minded, and doesn’t realize it’s not possible for all to play 70% unless you carry about 12-13 players. Good luck...

First rodeo for you, huh Soccerscrub? Go watch some U17 & U19 DA or ECNL games. BFA still trumps not-so-B, not-so-F, not-so-A, but highly skilled. The one's that really stand out are the ones that are fast, athletic, AND highly skilled.

Also, 5 sets of parents were all told the same thing, that they would rotate time since it was a very good team that would have good players on bench. Intelligent and skilled players st this age are a gem. They will grow and get faster. Plus the older they get a lot of these kids will drop. At this age it’s too young to only rotate 2 positions with 5 kids and everyone else never leaves the field. Of course our team manager has his own agenda

Don't try this at home!

A little quick math . . . ForFake . . . with a team of 15 players, the goalie can play 100% and the field players can average just over 70%.

You got me, SoS. Yes, it is possible with 15 in 11v11, but not really practical or advisable. I'd hate to see how horrible the flow of that game is. And I believe there are just certain players/positions that should rarely leave the field.

Let me know what teams in NTX get all of their field players 70% PT.

Up to 15 players you can definitely manage 70%. JDL IS A PRACTICE LEAGUE. Does not count. Should be developing kids not killing spirits.

While I’m not tracking minutes, I have not seen a team in JDL or LH keep kids sitting on the bench. Coaches seem to be actively rotating players. Not sure that translates to 70% per kid. But totally agree, if you are getting less than 50% even, what are you doing?

DA and ECNL may be doing something different but we do not partake.
