Heighway carries a big roster and they had 1 sub the game I watched. Heard over half of the team got the flu or something?? One of the parents said 4 starters were out the whole weekend and they were playing with a few who weren’t well.
This is true. A good handful of them got the flu in Vegas at the beginning of the week.

We left Liverpool prior to the Vegas tournament due to issues with the coach and coaches wife "manager".  They have several talented players as we wish them much success today and always.  We quickly signed with Dallas Texans-Salazar and are excited to resume play this Spring season.

I didn’t realize Classic League allowed players to switch teams within the division. And Liverpool Heighway coach allowed the release to a team only 2 spots below his on the table? Good on him for doing what’s in the kids best interest. So what happened to Salazar’s goalkeeper?

Same thought. Most coaches will only release players to rec. Says a lot about the Heighway coach.

Without going into details--it was NOT easily obtained nor was there any guarantee that we would have been accepted by another team..more importantly, lets just say a breach of contract suit was pending which forced the issue--out of respect for the kiddos and parents on the team, I will not make further comments about that situation...that aside, competition in all positions is healthy--part of the game at every level....having two strong goalies will be beneficial as to accommodate the DA and D1 schedules...The Texans were the only team who had less goals at the end of the Fall season then did Liverpool---so their goalie is not weak by any means...lets us not forget that these are 11yokiddos...it should always be about the kids--not the club or the coach...these kids practice hard and give up a lot of their free time to play this game--Fortnight!!---lets enjoy their collective victories and appreciate their efforts...

That’s true about competition being good for the boys. But in this case having already earned the spot especially prior to signing day, if I was the parent of the current goalkeeper at Texans, I would be pretty upset. I mean another goalkeeper coming in halfway through the select year, especially having given up 2nd fewest goals in fall season? I mean it’s no surprise that Salazar would scoop him up though.

A lawsuit over a U11 soccer contract? This is a 2008 we are talking about? I just spit my tea out. That’s one I’ve never heard before.

No idea what so ever. Strange how perception becomes truth in the eyes of some people. What if the issue was not with the player? ALL teams have the group of soccer daddy-coaches. We’ve all seen them. The 3-6 wanna be coaches that band together to coach their kids, critique the coach as well as the refs. There may be a lot more to this tale than has been told. If these ‘experts’ can’t handle the coach, team, manager or parents they need to move on. If this is the case, the cure for the cancer is to cut it out. Cudos to that coach that released that kid to another team. Sounds like a great guy IMHO. Hopefully now EVERYONE is happy and will cut the political BS and let the kids play.

Saw the Liverpool/Suárez second half. Good game played well by both teams. Liverpool had a save in the last 5-minutes which secured the tie. Very enjoyable game. Fortunate to have had several Liverpool families supporting Salazar Texans as they played a hard fought match with Starvano-Texans. 3-1 Salazar; but closer on the pitch. Anyone see the Solar Mckinney game? We may have a 3-way tie for 2-place after the games tomorrow.

I watched some of the Solar game mainly second half, from what I saw it was pretty one sided. FCD got a late goal on a penalty, other than that Solar had their way. I thought Solar would have put it on them a little harder than they did based on the way they have been playing, could have just been an off day.

Good weekend of soccer. Liverpool managed to shock Suarez with a draw which I’m sure they didn’t see coming after last weekend’s 8-1 result. Scrappy team, but after a tie, dropped to 4th in D1

Texans Salazar had a solid weekend and jumped to 3rd

McKinney may have started slow on Saturday, but essentially had target practice on Sunday. Sitting at 2nd with a huge goal differential tie breaker.

Kicks still sitting on top of D1. If another team is to catch them, it will take a loss and a tie at minimum. Game of the week will definitely be suarez vs kicks

On another note, how about Solar Ackerson storming back into the top 5 discussion. After the 2 losses early in the season, they are on a run of 1 draw and 6 wins. The only top team they have played so far is Solar McKinney. Have they improved that much, or are they the beneficiary of a light schedule? If they have actually improved, they COULD give some problems to the top teams that may underestimate them

I hope to see Ackerson do well. Hard for the previous “top” teams to lose key players and not miss a beat compared to newly reformed teams (Suarez/Liverpool) and teams with less turnover (McKinney, Kicks, Salazar). I think they were hit the hardest. So to be seen... week by week standings are definitely skewed as the bottom half of D1 performs no differently that other good non d1 teams.

Talking to one of the Solar parents on Saturday, they said that they lost their center back at the start of the year. Does anyone have any reference as to whether this type of turnover has happened in other years? I thought a contract was a contract.

Solar, Texans and FC Dallas have DA programs. Not sure if this is the case for the Solar case; but, Salazar—Texans lost a player to promotion unto the DA squad. DA is meant to have the highest competition.

Yes, this past year, the ‘07 DA programs expanded and added extra teams. They also recruited maybe thirty or so ‘08 boys to fill those teams.

This ‘08 group has been affected age pure split, DA expansion and now new DA structure for next year. and teams are very reactionary. With more changes in DA, I don’t see it ending soon.

Not sure how you put Allegiance and McKinney in the same conversation, but hey you did get 50% of the math correct. You do realize that Allegiance has be been SHUT out in 4 of 11 games just in Classic league right, uhmmmm 36% of the time they fail to even score a goal, yeah I know, we are not talking W's but not even a goal??? Not to mention last week they were shut out by #18, that has only managed to win 1 game all season giving up 41 goals in 9 games?? Also you do realize they still have a few of the "top" teams left to play so the chance of them being bottom 5 and moving down into a D2 role is not off the table. If that happens, good luck holding on to a few of the more talented kids on that team.... And this is the team that posted a few months ago " soon to be one of the top in the nation" Hey, they do play Mckinney in a few weeks, which brings me to wonder if they can keep it within a 10 goal differential.....Hey I like the plan, but until they execute the plan, well its not good soccer....The Kicks and Mckinney seem to be the only teams consistently taking care of business every week. The other teams are struggling, as I witnessed yesterday watching Salazar-Texans loose to a watch should be a mid D2 Solar team that had only won 2 games all season and both of those games were against the winless bottom guys.....As mentioned before, this age division has been hurt by the age pure split and DA expansion so trying to guess a top 5 or 10 is pretty much week to week at this time......Oh and peeking at that the 07 division, well looks like Mckinney is taking care of that division also and still to come a upcoming match with Allegiance/Mckinney..hmm

I see some people commenting on results from yesterday. Classic League hasnt posted anything yet. Can someone update us on the results they know happened yesterday. Also, were they final results, or were they called off during the game? Im assuming classic league goes by the rule that the result is final if its past half time?

If the games kicks off second half it goes in the books, otherwise its a do over.....Rain started after 12 noon, no bearing on the early morning games that were completed.

Just looked at the schedule to see who had who. Looks like the big game will be Kicks vs Liverpool. Based on Kicks record they’re going to be hard to beat. They are finally getting in to the tougher competition so could get interesting. I guess I missed Solar Oliver beating Texans Salazar last weekend. Big win for Oliver. Anyone see that game that can tell us what happened? That could really hurt Salazar since the other teams above them and below them in standings have played and beat them.

My suggestion would be for CL to cancel all 08 games because it might be below 50 and could rain next Monday:D and make it mandatory for all teams to go watch the 07 game between Mckinney/Allegiance...I sure hope the video puppets bring the tower of power poles to the game to give us some video!!! Maybe we can start a topic on the over and under of how many passes Allegiance can string together before Mckinney pressure's only to have Allegiance loose the ball and watch Mckinney score....

McKinney will probably play 6 defenders and 2 up long ball. Allegiance will probably roll with their regular formation and play their beautiful possession game.
