They are finally getting in to the tougher competition so could get interesting. I guess I missed Solar Oliver beating Texans Salazar last weekend. Big win for Oliver. Anyone see that game that can tell us what happened? That could really hurt Salazar since the other teams above them and below them in standings have played and beat them.
Solar West (Oliver) was up 2-1 at half. Solar scored about half way through the second half... Salzar scored with about 5 minutes left to play. Game ended 3-2.

They can play with anyone when they’re all healthy. Saw it last game and again today.

Did you watch? Solar McKinney 07 dominated. They won 7-1 over Allegiance, and it could have been much worse. What was your take?

No need for 6 defenders, Allegiance would have had to cross midfield for the defenders to even engage. The entire game was played on Allegiance side of the field. You could count the number of consecutive of passes on two hands before Mckinney pressured and forced the turnover or the mistake. Total domination and it even appeared Mckinney was missing a few players. Allegiance was out skilled, out played, and out coached today. I question if that team is even a top 5 team......

Re: TOP TEN 08’ BOYS TEAMS
Allegiance was able to move the ball and had mutilple opportunities to finish. It seemed they were nervous and had some uncharacteristic bad touches when they were open to finish. There were beautiful passes by Allegiance throughout the game but a bad touch kept them from finishing several times.
I guess that will be the last match up between the 2 until next season or possibly a tournament.

McKinney is definitely one of, if not THE best coach out there. Sure, there will be games that he loses here and there, but that's just 10 yr old soccer. The way he develops those boys and the Soccer IQ they play with is incredible. They are consistent and solid at every position. Their strikers are fast and skilled, their midfield controls the ball, the wingers are brutal with their outside runs, the defense is physical, their goalkeeper defends his whole box and seems to know when to jumpstart a counterattack. HE didn't just recruit 9 kids who already knew how to do all that. He coached them to that level.
I'm just not a fan of Allegiance's style. but that's my opinion. They make tons of passes when nobody is pressuring, but as soon as a team pressures them, they crumble.
What Liverpool Heighway coach has done here recently is incredible. Losing his goalkeeper, being forced to put his best field player in the net, and still forcing a draw against kicks and suarez. That team is scrappy

Re: TOP TEN 08’ BOYS TEAMS
I watched the McKinney/Allegiance game and I still believe that Pedro’s style of play and coaching will be better for long term development. McKinney has VERY good athletes, especially number 30 who looks like he could have driven himself there. But how is Solars style of play any different than any other team NTX team? Solar’s skill, touch and ability was good. But did it stand out compared to other NTX teams? What did stand out was their speed. Those boys can run FAST!CATX wrote:Guess those 6 defenders worked!
They beat Allegiance soundly, no question. Allegiance defenders panicked and did not keep possession like they normally do. I think a lot of that had to do with with Solars speed and physicality. If you are trying to coach for short term results then no question, Solars team is the place to be. Development, however, is a marathon and not a sprint.

Re: TOP TEN 08’ BOYS TEAMS
Number 30 is no more a man than the kid with the blond hair on Allegiance, maybe they drove together.
With that being said, I think that you don't give enough credit to the kids in blue. If their skill didn't stand out, would they be 13-0 with a 58 goal differential? Also, if the Solar kids continue to develop their skill, and your kids, sorry.......and Pedro's kids continue to develop their skill, but Solar has better athletes with superior speed, will Allegiance ever catch up without adding new studs?
Either way kudos to Solar 07 for taking care of business in a big way. They started fast and never took their foot off the gas.

What exactly stood out in terms of skill as far as Solars kids? Did you watch the game or see the posted score? I'm not saying that Solars kids are not good, but what exactly stood out besides speed compared to any other team?

Yes, you did a great job of contributing nothing. BTW, I did not originally bring up the 07 game so if you don’t want to talk about it here then don’t respond.Ntxsoccerfan08 wrote:Guess I did a great job. You did an outstanding job of picking up on it

Re: TOP TEN 08’ BOYS TEAMS
I think Allegiance is doing well to develop these boys but as one pointed out earlier in a post, it was uncharacteristic bad touches, nervousness, etc. I believe that comes with not having enough experience against top level teams or talent. They have to put themselves in more situations like this, playing top level teams and to be able to perform like that against them. Not just older teams, but better teams.
This reminds me of 2 years ago at the Supercopa in Chicago area. Tennessee SC were so excited to be at the Supercopa, they started out playing very beautiful soccer. Touch touch, etc. But they couldn't play at the pace of all the other teams. Every other team played touch touch, total football, etc. at a much faster pace and more physical. I think we (Solar McKinney 07) beat them 5-1. After the game all their parents and coach were so nice and completely amazed that our boys could play the way they did and at the pace they kept. It was a real learning experience for them and they appreciated it. I think it helped them understand what they needed to work on.
