Re: 07 ECNL
My predictions:
Saturday
Sting Royal -3 Challenge
Texans pick'em Sting Black
Solar -2 DKSC
Tulsa -1 Sting Austin
CE -1 Celtic
Albion pick'em FCD
Sunday
DKSC -2 Texans
Tulsa -3 CE
Solar -4 Sting Black
Sting Austin -3 Celtic
Sting Royal -1 Albion
FCD -2 Challenge
The two Houston teams head into Dallas with a combined 9-1 record and both are top 3 in the conference (based on their record). Perhaps I'm not giving them enough respect in my guesses, but they'll need to pull off some results this weekend in their first go round with Dallas teams to stay there.
Sting Royal has an easier slate of games in the coming months, and two wins this weekend could vault them up the table and secure an inside track toward a top 3 finish.
DKSC are one of the teams capable of giving Solar a good run. Like Tulsa (who had two close games with Solar), it isn't pretty soccer, but they are physical, athletic, and are not fun to play against. Possible upset alert in this one.

Scores are not posted if the home team does not update TGS. Generally speaking this is the managers duty.KeepTheBall wrote:Anyone know why it takes ECNL FOREVER to get scores posted? This is beyond terrible.

From what I have seen, I concur. Officiating has been very substandard, IMO. This is from watching multiple age groups. There have been some seriously cringeworthy calls and no calls. I expected officiating to be better. This isn't rec ball.

Power Rankings
cenTex wrote:Figured I'd take a stab at some power rankings this week, but other than Celtic and Classics Elite being at the bottom, and probably Solar at the top, I have no idea how to separate teams 2 through 10. I guess rounding out my top 3 based on the quality of results so far would probably be DKSC and Challenge.
Stab @ Power Rankings a/o 05/11/20
1. Solar
2. Challenge
3. DKSC
4. FCD/AHSC
6. Royal
7. Tulsa
8. Texans
9. Black
10. Austin
11. Celtic

Sting seems to be the most likely candidate to challenge for a title out of that middle group. Depending on how players get allocated, seems they are either going to have one really good team that could challenge for a title, or two solid middle of the pack teams. I think it's too early to tell, but I suppose you're thinking it's the former?
Down the back stretch we go...care to re-rank the middle 8? (which was a good call)

I will try...
1. Solar
Just about locked up the #1 spot.
Gap...
2. DKSC
gap..
Close to locking up a Champ League spot
Gap...
3. Sting Royal
4. FCD
5. Challenge
6. Texans
Just spitting back the standings would be boring, so will mix it up. If I had to bet on who will actually snag the 3rd Champions League spot, my money would be on FCD.
Gap...
7. Tulsa
8. Albion
9. Sting Black
Gap...
10. Sting Austin
Gap...
11. Classics Elite
12. Celtic

Re: 07 ECNL
I see YNT Talent ID Centers have been rolling out for 06/05/04/03. Will there be any for the 07s this spring?
The 07s will be the backbone of the 2024 U17 World Cup. Would have thought they would have started evaluating things by now.

No to all of that. Don’t have a kid on that team. Don’t follow the standings or remaining schedule closely. Just based on what I have watched over the past month or so. Maybe there’s no way they catch DKFC. The results have been so all over the place this year for the 07s, that all I see as as sure things are solar and the bottom 2

Re: 07 ECNL
My hunch is 41 points (1.86/game) should be enough to have a very good chance of securing a Champions League bid. DKSC, FCD, Challenge, Tulsa, Sting Black, and Sting Royal can all theoretically get there. 6 teams battling for two spots (behind Solar).
For giggles, if we assume from here on out everybody loses to Solar and beats Albion, Sting Austin, Classics Elite, and Celtic (which is obviously not a safe assumption, but humor me)...
FC Dallas would already be on 40 points with games vs Challenge and Texans. Need to go 0-1-1 to get to 41 points.
DKSC would be on 31 points with games vs Texans twice, Sting Black. Tulsa, and Challenge. Need to go 3-1-1 to get to 41 points.
Texans would be on 29 points with games against DKSC twice, Sting Black twice, FCD, Sting Royal, and Challenge. Need to go 4-3 to get to 41 points.
Challenge would be on 27 points with games vs Tulsa, FCD, Sting Royal, Texans, DKSC, and Sting Black. Need to go 4-0-2 or 5-1 to get to 41 points.
Tulsa would be on 32 points with games vs Sting Black, Challenge, and DKSC. Need to go 3-0 to get to 41 points.
Sting Royal would be on 37 points with games vs Challenge and Texans. Need to go 1-0-1 to get to 41 points.
Sting Black would be on 27 points with games vs DKSC, Tulsa, Texans twice, and Challenge. Need to go 5-0 to get past 41 points.
The Sting Black path is the only one that seems very unlikely, Tulsa and Challenge have little margin for error and a tough path, but any of the rest seem reasonable enough that none would be a shock.
Which two of the above pathways seem most likely to you?

Well that silly assumption did not even hold up for a single weekend (Sting Austin beat DKSC and Challenge tied Celtic).
Neither FCD or Texans played a game, but both had a pretty good weekend.

Re: 07 ECNL
100% Solar 61 pts...One game left (DKSC)
90% FCD 37 pts...Three games left (Challenge, Albion, Texans)
70% Sting Royal 37 points...Two games left (Challenge, Albion)
40% DKSC 38 points...Two games left (Sting Black, Solar)
DKSC needs either a good result vs Solar or a lot of help from the Houston teams.
