Lake Highlands QT 2012

So, out of the top 38 FBR ranked teams only two are not playing in the QT...

1) Fever White

and

2) Polaris

Anyone know what's up with these two?

Fever website doesn't even list Fever White as a "competetive" team anymore.

Polaris website says they intended to play the QT... but I guess that's not happening.

Here's the complete applied teams list and their respective most recent FBR ranking. (old FBR referenced just for the heck of it, there will be much shifting around after Puma and King Tut has been played)

One Andromeda team and one Sting team were previousy unranked (stuck them at the bottom for now). Any guesses on where these two teams might fall in to the mix?

So it looks like the following teams are rolling the dice when it comes to QT seeding (by not playing in King Tut or Puma Cup):

SRSA Colvin
Solar Gio
Fever Red
Waco Lady Blast
Texas Thunder
Lady Titans

I wonder how good of a strategy that is?

IMO not a good idea, leaves too much to chance unless you are having an issue that you don't want exposed, calcualted risk I suppose. Fever is strong so probably won't get hurt, Gio has hidden from competition all year long, why would this be any different, Colvin will seed high based on legend alone! Seems like the other three would play for sure?

Gio stands to benefit the most bc they lost they're keeper. By not playing they stand to get a high seed and may be fortunate enough to make it 1st weekend. Tut may expose the hole left by the keeper leaving, unless they have found a quality replacement.

Colvin's just that good.
Don't know much about Fever.
The rest are probably not as significant either way.

Gio has a strong team. The keeper they lost was talented no doubt, but the team has become stronger in the back and mid. Therefore a replacement keeper will not be that difficult to fill.

Figuring out seeding from a few games with teams that have changed so radically this year is going to be quite challenging. The goalie "shuffle" is just one aspect, but complete re-structuring of some teams has been missed completely by FBR and one tournament won't give a lot more insight. Good luck to the folks who do the seeding...

The LHQT seeder does a pretty good job. I'm the manager of an 01 team and after King Tut she called me directly to ask a question about our team. They had been out watching games and I think put a lot of weight into the pre-qualifying tournaments.

They will have "insight" into how the teams are playing a week before the qualifying tournament. That is likely a more reliable indicator of future performance than historical information relating to how a team played six months ago with a different roster of players. The answer is simple - DD needs to bring her "A" game - no pressure.

Quick Question... SO, using the FBR listing above as the QT seeding, Would the first games of the first round be FC Dallas Premier vs Crush (Frady), Colvin vs FC Dallas Thompson, DT South vs LP Nicol etc....?

Gio's team is full of talented girls. Even if he doesn't get a "dedicated keeper", there some really athletic girls that can do a great job in goal I'm sure.

LH will send each of the big club '02 coaches a note and ask them to rank the '02 teams. They will use this as a majority of the criteria and the pre-qualifing tournaments as a minority, so for Solar the above is a good strategy if they are already highly regarded.

My question is once seeding is done how does LH figure out who plays who? I know the top 10 don't play each other. Say if there are 50 teams registered to play. Does #1 play #50, #2 play #49, etc...? Or is there some other system they use?

you are correct.
they list 1 - 50 in your example, then turn the bottom to the top where 1 matches with 50. then they turn it up again a second time to get the 4 teams per bracket.

Given that it looks like there are 44 teams signed up this year, it should work out exactly like the example I gave...
