Too much pressure to win, too much pressure from coach and too much pressure at home...means DD will burn out and hate soccer by U-14. Seen it a hundred times.

The attitudes expressed in this thread are the reason that competitive used to not start until U-11. The respective kids of the above posters have no clue regarding what teams are what, or even WHY daddy took them to try out for the team they are currently on...they just want to play soccer and make friends...mommy/daddy are the competitive ones.

The DDs don't care if they lost a game...they just want ice cream afterwards - the only way they feel bad about a loss is if mommy/daddy are mad because the team lost and subsequently punish the child by not giving them ice cream - lack of ice cream makes them cry at this age, not losing.

So you want them rewarding their kids with fattening ice cream and thus they are to big and lazy to play any sports thus leaving more room for your kid to shine??? I'm onto your game sir

You are spot on though, most kids have no clue if they are playing a good team or not, they are just going out there to play a game and hang out with their friends. Hopefully it stays that way for them for a while. When my dd was this age I took winning & losing out of the equation and told her all I wanted to see was her giving good effort and trying. Doesn't matter if you miss hit a ball, score on your own goal, or a slew of other things as long as you are out there giving good effort. Later on coaches will fix all the other mistakes she made but you can't really fix lack of effort later on down the road. Can't tell you how many high fives I've given after she got creamed in a game because she competed the entire game. Thankfully she still enjoys the game now that it's become a little more cut throat but I believe it's because she learned to love the competition and not necessarily the results.

Bingo! DD was bored in rec and needed more competition to stay in it. Found a great team where her skills are developing.

The only obvious "change" is in name only from Juventus to "FC Dallas East". What did you hear changed FriscoSoccer05?

I hear Sting 04 Goodman might be out due to a scheduling issue...

Unfortunately, Sting Goodman has pulled out of TGPL and is playing SDL. Goodman 04 has split into Goodman 04 White and Goodman 04 Blue. CJ also has two 03 teams that he coaches. TGPL could not accommodate all of his teams and he can not coach 4 teams in 2 different Saturday Leagues.

Too many for everyone to play each other once and not enough for silver. Any idea how this will work? Will they form two groups and have a playoff?

If there is a TGPL list, why won't anyone tell us where it's at? Or, why won't someone tell us how to contact TGPL?
