Then the 1st 2 of ALDS are @ home. Let's hope Yu brings it! Oh, and If Saunders pitches Friday for the O's know this... he's 0-6 with 9.38 ERA in 6 career starts in Texas. 41 hits, 13 HRs in 31 2/3 innings. Something tells me they'll find another option!

This "sky is falling" crap is what stirs up debate after debate. Of course the rest of the world is catching up, the reason is because we were so far ahead. The USWNT of all ages has been the most dominant soccer nation in the men's or women's game.

Out of 20 International events the WNT, U20 and U17 have failed to advance to the semi final stage in only 3 of those. One of which was this years U17 team that did not lose a game in the group. I challenge any of the naysayers to give me another nation on the mens or womens side that has showed that kind of dominance over the past 20 years.

The state of our womens game is just fine. The rest of the world is closing the gap, but only because that gap was so large at one time.

What happened to the "04 TPGL League Speculation" thread? OK, looked back and found it a few tangents ago. Anyone care to speculate?

okay so they rest of the world is closing the gap but we should just stay the course until the catch us. Maybe we can do like England and stay the course until we are no longer relevant. U17 did not only just not advance they were 3rd place in the group. Besides I am sure with all of your soccer accomplishments you know way more than Pia does. The sky isn't falling but you either adapt to change or you die.

I would speculate that PT will do a good job with this league.

I do know that people have been calling to adjust the system and find different players to fit that system, when I think the US is better served with adjusting the system to fit the best players.

However, you are correct, i am not Pia, just the Dad of a 7 year old.

we actually may not be that far off. She did say you can't make the needed changes at the national team level. She made the small adjustments that she could using what is avaliable. She was actually pushing for changes at the age of your DD. She was calling for US soccer to put out a higher skilled player and that starts at u17 not u17. So I agree 100% you fit the system to the players you have. You also adjust early to help create the player that you want to have in the future.
