But don,t worry, you want to wait one year so you can get on the top ranked team. Gives you one year of solid conditioning to get ready.

Unfortunately the select soccer atmosphere is very tough and you have to get an early jump on it.
My wife is currently 6 months pregnant but unfortunately the last ultrasound was not clear enough to positively identify the baby's gender. We were able to work out a deal with one of the top clubs whereby we reserved a spot on the 14's, however; since we couldn't guarantee the baby's gender we are having to pay double the normal club dues. Uniform orders were due last week so hopefully we picked all the right sizes and our first fund raising event is this weekend with all players expected to participate.
We're currently looking for a prenatal skills coach, so if anyone has suggestions please share.

Disappointing side note... During the game my DD kept trying to pull her cleats off. I'm really starting to worry that she doesn't have the "it" factor.

I wouldn't give up on her just yet, like they say "there's still lots of soccer left to play".
My thoughts:
1. It could just be the shoes. I'll try and find the URL I have for a company that specializes in cleats for the pre-todler crowd. Cost wise they're around $650 a pair, but well worth it. My older DD was able to get almost half a season out of hers.
2. I'll PM you the phone # for our sports phychology guy in Los Angeles. He can do wonders to help her work through any mental blocks she might be having. His rates are around $250/hr which is cheap compared to most, but you do have to pre-pay for 10 sessions along with the travel expenses.
Now you might be thinking "where does it all end?" but keep in mind, this is your DD's future we're talking about here. Just consider it an investment in her future, besides what would you rather do with the money... a college fund?

1. Coaching her from the parents' sideline.
2. Yelling at her to help her focus.
3. Screaming at her to make her hustle and stop crying.
4. Hollering at her "QUIT ACTING LIKE SUCH A BABY!!!" (That's our little joke.)
What else is there to do? The referees keep ejecting me but she doesn't understand that we're on the next level.
You're right, seeing a psychologist probably is the right thing.

Since development in these years is so critical, it would not be unreasonable to try one or both of the following:
1) Drug her. If she lacks focus, try Ritalan.
2) Remote Shock Therapy during the game with wireless shock devices which you can use from the sideline when she drops focus.
Just atay focused. You are obviously a loving parent who just wants their kid to succeed in life. I am sure you will both be fine... that is assuming your kid has any actual talent. I hate to say it... and I know it would be awful, but it IS possible your kid is not cut out for athletics and is more of the... well... how should I say it... "artsy" type. Let's hope not.

Oh yeah, your so late, she is doomed already and has no chance in making a top 10 team by the time she hits select ...... you want to see some real ballers, come out and watch my 08s tear up the XARA tournament this weekend!!!!! Does anyone know how to get an 08 thread established so I can talk smack the Lewisville teams?

A couple of things you didn't mention:
1. During your post game analysis (which should begin as soon as she walks off the field to ensure she's not forgotten any of the details), make sure you point out each and every play where your DD failed with exacting detail. Don't worry about embarsing her in front of her teammates or the other parents, it builds character. Where possible compare her to others on the team so she'll know who to model her improvement after. Some might feel this creates animosity within the team, but I've never seen it happen.
2. Have you tried incentives? I've seen this method used with mixed results. Some parents promise rewards based upon acceptable levels of play. Just make sure you base it upon results rather than "perceived effort"; you're out there to win after all. Also, make sure the reward is appropriate, you know a new iPhone 5 if you score 2 goals, $50 if you score 1, etc.

Seriously? My '10 has been doing private skills for a year already. You might as well pick another sport for her, she'll never catch up at this point.

I think tonight I'm going to send her to practice wearing regular diapers instead of slider-diapers. That'll show her.

This is hilarious...but has a ring of truth as well! My '02 dd isn't even a goal keeper anymore but I continue to make her go to keeper training because I don't want her to lose that aspect of her game...
Hee 02dd---it goes like this: If another parent has their DD in one MORE soccer training/event/activity than we do then we say "they are going to burn her out, poor thing." And to those parents whose DD has one LESS soccer-related activity than we do we say "But she just LOVES it, she'd do soccer every single minute and never sleep if we'd let her".

You must know me because I seriously can't tell you how many times I have said that exact phrase...scary. You did forget the part where I say,
"she always gets in trouble at home for constantly kicking the ball around...and won't go any where without a ball at her feet." So I guess we are just acquaintances...not close buddies.

That's going to be one big kid by the time the little lady dominoes, but I guess that's one way to make sure size is not a problem.

I have twin BB's that are '10. Start now and we can dominate the 3v3 world and go to Disney. Think of the attention we would get and bragging rights if our BB's were National Disney Champions!!
No worries everyone. I have a DD that should be arriving early '13. I too am looking for that elusive pre-natal skills coach. Have had good experiences with Kat Webb early in the process. Wonder if she could start REALLY early!!??

Have you guys tried getting mom to do skills in the back yard? The brazilians have proven that intense practice in moms with child can cause an osmosis effect and transfer the skills right into baby! I know Jj is currently considering this technique, so maybe check with him first before bringing the idea to mom.
