Ok. I'm tired of this one. I hate to blame a player and any defensive mistake is catastrophic. NM keeper dropped a roller that got pumped in and then had one bounce over her head. 3-0. Got pulled and replaced by a field player. Might as well thrown blood in the water for WC. 5-0 and starters are mostly gone. Taking nothing away from WC as they all count but this game was closer than the final. Maybe 2-0 or 3-1 would be fair score.

Wtg Solar Gold!

Quality game for both teams. Sting scored a minute before half on a rip from just outside the box. SG scored on a pk about a minute after half. Then again on a break and clinical finish about halfway through 2nd. Sting really had the last 7 minutes, but SG GK played very well and defense kept them out. Ina brought us luck. Thanks dear!

Maybe for Sting Brown... Those top 3 D2 teams can play with any of the D1 teams.

Or...........some teams are capable of advanced development.

Ha Ha! For sure. I think that the NM team is as described above. They are fast and probably a little angry...and World Class is definitely a strong group. Hopefully, we show well. Thanks to Ina and others for the well wishes, we have a group of fighters, and while we won't claim that we can play with anyone...we have a team of fighters that will try!

And if we get "developed" it was supposed to happen anyway, and we will take it for what it is...a great experience.

Any update on the three 1:15 games at Ross Stewart?

Rush was up 2-0 and World Cup was up 6-1 both late 2nd half.

that would be quite an acomplishment.

Based on the scores...the ECNL teams could have deferred until the quarters started on Saturday and let the rest of the teams fight it out the last 3 days to figure out the 2nd place teams...maybe Sting and NJ will be a decent game, however.

I don't know why Seven keeps getting surprised when a Sting team loses and/or SG wins (or today's case, hangs tough).

I believe the actual WC-SG score was 5-1... But 2 of the goals were clearly offsides, so I was still technically correct. SG represented NTX D2 well today and played WC tough. We'll know this evening whether or not SG gets in QF.

Love how the SG left that little bit if info out. Sure they will get on here and downplay their roll. Yes, well played.

The "well played" was a sincere comment on their bracket play, not sarcasm. But it was a piece of info that got left out. Those players are solid for sure; watched them play 2 games.

Complete BS!...I am honestly a little frustrated by this. Here is the REAL truth...

We had our ONE pulp guest who has been with us all season...Their backup GK. And she has been LIGHTS OUT! We have already covered that in the CPP posts, so I won't go back...NO other pulp player has been out with us at all in any other game. Not in league, not in tournaments. NONE.

Our other guests include players from Solar Silver (a PPL team), and one who plays on another D2 who used to play for us. We love the girls and are very happy to have them, but if we hadn't taken on some recent injuries, I am not sure we would have had any guests except for the GK.

We have actually played short of a full roster for basically the entire tournament...we did have a healthy 18 on Wednesday when we beat Sting Royal Brown/Harr. We only had 14 healthy yesterday after one of our starting backs was injured 3 minutes into the game (our win over NM), and only 16 healthy today v. World Class...minus 2 starters. Again, NO Pulp. That would have helped, but they are playing with Solar ECNL I think...

SG just played hard.

To be the underdog team that is surprising people by actually showing up to play and making the most of the opportunity is exactly what our girls hoped to do. It makes NO difference to our dds that they are apparently inferior players (according to the haters). They are having a blast playing with house money...

And even if they go through and get hammered in the next round...that is what everyone expected right? So they will do what they always do...go as hard as they can, and try to make their opponents earn every inch of it...for 70 minutes...then shake hands and be gracious.

The funny thing to me is that posters who clearly haven't been watching this team play enough to know our roster, and are consistently surprised by their success. I take it as a badge of honor that all those teams continue to look past us...Ask yourself why does SG seem to gut out "surprising" wins over "superior" teams consistently? Could it be that they are actually not THAT bad?

Think about this when a girl with a hard-nosed, never-say-die attitude shows up at a tryout for your beloved dd's team. Do you want those gutty players who fight the entire time...or is it not pretty enough...and you are worried that yours will lose her spot.

Frustrating to hear some of this from people who should have figured it out by now...not just the one I responded to, but several others on this topic. We won't apologize for doing what we can to advance and win games. Sorry to disappoint you.

Here is my thought on the game today...

The forward from WCFC is truly a special player, but they were all fast and good. Whether SG makes it through or not, it has been a great tournament for the girls. Off the soap box for now. As you were.
