'04 Girls FBR Rankings - 04-15-2014
Weekly Disclaimer and Other Notes:
1) Liverpool '04 RASE is the de-facto #1 '04 girls team in NTX (unbeaten against any '04 NTX girls team for >1 year). They are not included in the FBR at this time due to a lack of games played against '04 girls opponents in the past 16 weeks
2) The last of the fall season/tournament results were dropped from the history this week. As of today, FBR contains only results from 2014.

Standard practice for Sting Dallas. Scarfone brings one of the top Dallas academy teams up through the Spring of U10, and then hands them off to another coach for select. Same thing happened with the '02's and '03's.

Actually, now that I think of it, same thing essentially happened with his '01 team at D'Feeters as well...

New twist is already "out there" involving team movements.Son_ofa_Pitch wrote:So Sting '04 Scarfone is now Sting '04 Gutierrez? New Twist to all this madness soon to come ..

Maybe consider:
1. Only listing teams that play 11v11?
2. Only leagues that are sanctioned by NTSSA?
Yes, playing 11v11 this early is another discussion that has already been played out on another thread......but by now (U10/U11) all teams should have made the transition to 11v11. Of course it won't do much for 80% of the teams on this list and especially the top 40.
BWG.....once again thanks for doing this.....I was just curious.

2. Only leagues that are sanctioned by NTSSA? I don't think the rankings would be particularly interesting if I excluded SDL, TGPL, & PTCL, in addition to PSA.

I would expect this is commonplace but do not know the exact numbers/percentages. What percentage of teams change coaches leading up to select (move to select coach within the same club) and how many stay with their current coach through the process?

FBR has a pretty solid track record of accurately placing teams that play "up" against tough competition and end up with poor W-L records, relative to teams that play lesser competition and have very good W-L records.
Now, with that said, I will say that I feel that FBR has Sting Cuevas "over-ranked" by a few spots right now. Cuevas' ranking is being buoyed by their W over LP Dalglish back in Jan. That result is a bit inconsistent compared to their other results, but it is a legitimate result, and that's the way FBR is set up. Somewhere in the 19-23 range is probably more accurate for Cuevas, and based on my experience, that would be an accurate placement for them, even with their 1-9 record. So, likely off a few spots there, but probably not as far off as some people might think.

Re: '04 Girls FBR Rankings - 04-15-2014
It's up to your parents and coaches as to where you play. Many times coaches will actually choose to play down because they know that winning keeps parents happy and they want to keep their team together as long as possible. I'm good with rewarding teams that play up against the toughest competition even if they lose. At this age losing really isnt all that big of a deal, parents just seem to make it a big deal so it leaves little room for actual development. That's a topic for a different day though.
Anyone know what tournaments these top teams are going to be playing in over the next few months?

All the RASE parents are over on the South Texas Soccer Forum. An 04 girls team is finally getting a shot a RASE.

Looks like kingwood is hated almost as much as some of y'all hate RASE. Why don't you get y'all's coach to call LW maybe he'll be open to a Round Robin?MollyHatchet wrote:Now I know why this forum has been so quite lately.

They did however play a very pretty form of soccer, moving the ball around nicely. They just were never able to penetrate for any goals in the game I saw. They were also a very small team at the time.

Read some of the last pages on that forum. Can't believe they think they will hold RASE to no goals. I normally root for the underdog when it doesn't directly affect my DDs team, but in this case, I hope RASE beats them 7-0 or greater. They need a little humble pie down there.
