Awesome job everyone. Very impressive. Especially Lonestars....great win vs E Lake Arsenal.

It's looking like a Texas sweep.

Great job Texas teams. Socrocks is right, beating East Lake is a huge win. Congrats to the Lonestar crew.

These results really expose just how bad Gotsoccer really is.
Their points system is horrible. Especially for Texas teams.

Example: Wesa Krush, the #2 team in the region on Gotsoccer, was smoked by the #16 BUSA and #14 Solar.

If I remember correctly, Gotsoccer heavily weights tournament results, so teams that enter lots of tournaments tend to do well in rankings. Don't think that many serious soccer people give it much credence.
Day 4 - Bracket Game 2 - Regionals:
Early morning game, avoiding most of the heat and humidity (to the extent that you can ever avoid the humidity here). Relatively easy 2-0 victory, although we slept walked through most of the game. TNFC from Tennessee just didn't have the horses to match up with a Texas team. Speaking of which, Texas teams are currently routing the competition in BR, although we still have quarters to sort all of that out. Tomorrow's game is a non-event as we have already clinched first in our bracket. Haven't studied it, but imagine it may be the same for other brackets as well. Texans looked very strong today beating a spirited North Carolina team. Frankly, I think that they are the team to beat, but for their numbers.
Short post...heading for a road trip to New Orleans for the evening......may come back to watch the last game in bracket.....just can't decide currently.
P.S. Saw the Feet girls out supporting their brethen (or sisterthen as the case may be). That was nice, although I overheard they were more interested in the U14 boys bracket. TWSS!

I think you are right SI. I was thinking I would get these great updates from my DD, one of the Feet girls, but her efforts as far as texting me are failing!

We are very proud of the teams from Texas and wish you guys continued success. Have fun in the French Quarter!

Thanks for the update SI. Things are looking good for Texas. Solar/BUSA should be the big game tomorrow. Lonestars can't snooze against OFC, either.

I was expecting some updates from Gunners....he must have found the Daiquiri joints.

Speaking of joints...SI, hope you didn't take any suggestions from Guru. He has a strange idea of hot spots. I guess we all have our skeletons in the closet from our college days.....he sung and danced his way through college (stage name: Rooty-Tooty Fresh and Fruity) and spent a lot time in the Quarter. Guess he was pretty well-known in the female impersonator circles. Have fun....but choose wisely!

Socrocks, I will deal with you later!

Good luck to the Texas teams today. If Texans, Sting and Lonestar keep playing well they each should take first in their brackets. Solar could have a battle just looking at the results for both their team and the team they are playing.

If Solar can get the win, we will have every bracket won by a Texas team. What a great statement.

It will also solidify the Texas teams wont have to play each other in the quarters.

Good luck

I was shocked too. They controlled the 1st half, but let up early when they came out flat. 2 hours on the field probably didn't help although OFC seemed to be more dehydrated with more players. ofc played real hard and made good adjustments. I wish OFC could get another shot at east lake. I think they would have a better result. Too bad they stacked bracket A or they would be here Monday too.

Thank God my wife finally came in town. Everything I have has been sweated in and I am allergic to detergent......and washing machines.....and dryers. I'm just sayin,
Day 5 - Bracket Game 3: Is it bad when you resort to playing possession against a State Champ of another state? Wow, 7-0, but it wasn't that close. My daugher scored, after taking a 16 second turn on the ball. Got to see some of my middle daughter's college teammates playing for Lonestars and Challenge....so that was cool. Yes, games have been moved up to 7:00am, which is fine with me. If we lose, we can hit the road early, if we win......well, one step closer. It has been a very long week already and we made it even longer by going to the French Quarter last night (and this morning). Note to self: Don't tell my 23 year old about this place! Repeat 3 times. Thought I saw Lot when we hailed our last cab this morning (little Bible humor for those so inclined). Off to my nap and then dinner with the fam. Will update tomorrow.

Hey Guru, saw the Mad one yesterday at the Solar game. Pleasant surprise and fun talking to her and her team mate. Today was hot man, EMT's were very busy giving IVs apparently. Went to the medical tent to bag of ice for one our girls and they said it was a bad day for IVs. Did I say it was HOT and HUMID here????
7:00am games are going to make it hard to get the kids fed so they have some fuel in the morning. Cooler at that time of day but down here Cooler is a relative term!!!!
Its been mentioned before but have to say again, the complex is very nice and Powerade is giving away their 12oz bottles to anyone. Besides the medical tents and the EMT truck, Powerade man is the most popular dude here.
Sorry to hear Lonestars lost and I would bet the Texans are too.

Congrats to Sting and also kudos to Solar for a good run!

Now it looks like Sting will play East Lake Arsenal in semis....should be a great game.

Texans/Lonestars winner gets AFC Lightning....a very winnable game for either Texas team. Let's hope for an all Texas final.

Day 6 - Quarterfinals: Believe that I am officially a resident of Louisiana after six days. Actually know my way around the city, scary. Won 3-0 today...girls played well and left little doubt. Saw the end of the Texans game....war of attrition. They had a thin bench coming in (numbers-wise) and had a few more injuries. Game with Lonestars could have gone either way. We get East Lake Arsenal tomorrow, they are considered one of the best in the region and it should be a formidable battle. Winner of this game probably faces Lonestars who get to play AFC Lightning, a team that Sting beat 3-0 in bracket.

Post by Gunners 21/06/10, 06:51 pm

All things considered it was a good weekend for the Texans. Obviously they would have liked to have gone deeper, but with a short bench it was a stretch to begin with. When the injuries popped up I feared, correctly so, it was only a matter of time. Having said that, the girls put in a good showing and came close to extending their stay. The Lonestars game was incredibly intense, and the extra time/heat (how can it be so hot at 8:30am?!?!) only made the game more open/enjoyable. It was a game that neither team deserved to lose, but in the end one had to. Hats off to Lonestars on the victory, and good luck to them and Sting moving forward. Both are, IMO, easily the class of the remaining teams. If there's one thing this tournament (and Nike) has proved to me, it's that North Texas (and Lonestars) can play with any team in the country.
