It rotates through the states in region III. Last year it was here in Texas. Players from most states in Region III should not have so many problems if they are well hydrated and conditioned. If so, it still happens.
Next year wont be any less hot or humid.

I have to concur look at the final teams left:Gunners wrote:All things considered it was a good weekend for the Texans. Obviously they would have liked to have gone deeper, but with a short bench it was a stretch to begin with. When the injuries popped up I feared, correctly so, it was only a matter of time. Having said that, the girls put in a good showing and came close to extending their stay. The Lonestars game was incredibly intense, and the extra time/heat (how can it be so hot at 8:30am?!?!) only made the game more open/enjoyable. It was a game that neither team deserved to lose, but in the end one had to. Hats off to Lonestars on the victory, and good luck to them and Sting moving forward. Both are, IMO, easily the class of the remaining teams. If there's one thing this tournament (and Nike) has proved to me, it's that North Texas (and Lonestars) can play with any team in the country.

Solar Red 94

What strikes grundle is the relative absence of the most powerful soccer club in the free world.
Yuklite, where the hell are all of the Texans teams?
Please do explain, grundle can hardly wait for this!!!

Re: 96-Regionals
However, looking at the list of finalists It looks like Sting has bragging rights this year.
Great showing for all of the NTX 96 teams....OK, OK Lonestars too. Good luck to both teams for what should be an awesome final tomorrow. You'll be great reps at Nationals.

I noticed the NTX boys weren't as fortunate, they only advanced one team (Andromeda 91 Navy).

Boys Side at Regionals--different story
The US Youth Soccer Championship for boys just doesn't have the same meaning that it did prior to US Soccer forming the Development Academy Leagues. I am guessing that the ECNL (and the US Youth Soccer's National League) was formed as a partial response to what was happening on the boys side. With the girls, not all the top clubs agreed to join the ECNL, but this next year the list of quality holdouts will be much smaller.

Congrats to all the NTX girls teams! Way to go and good luck at Nationals!

Re: 96-Regionals
Lonestars 96 are a very good side with an ample amount of talent. It was a hotly contested match with Sting scoring two goals in the first, one with less than a minute to halftime, and Lonestars knocking on the door on many ocassions in the 2nd half. I think that we saw a record number of yellow cards in the match (including my kid), which I am not sure I should attribute to the reffing or the pent up emotion. Editorial comment: The Lonestars' girls were very gracious at the awards ceremony and showed a tremendous amount of class, as did the coach and the parents. I hope we did the same. The Lonestars scored just prior to the waterbreak and had at least three other good opportunities prior to the whistle being blown. I want to think that we were the better team, and maybe we were today, but not by much. Could have gone either way with the right breaks. Texas showed tremendously well during this week with 5 of the 6 National finalist coming from Texas. The outlier is AFC Lightning out of GA in the 92 bracket.
Final comment....this Cinderalla ending could have been played out by Feet, Texans, Solar or Solar Red if the chips fell differently. The point being that North Texas remains beyond competitive on the regional (and national level) and as much as it drives us crazy, it just makes us individualy and collectively stronger.

Re: 96-Regionals
Your team's players, coaches, & parents were gracious winners from what I saw SI. You have a great bunch of girls. Oh, I did hear from our girls that there was a funny incident in the Nationals sign up tent after the Semi-Final games where some (don't know how many) of the Sting 96 girls growled and made tiger paw swipes at our girls when they went by. They just thought it was funny and didn't take it seriously. That tent smelt horrible after some of the teams took off their shin guards and shoes in there.Suddenimpact wrote:Day 8 - Finals (Sting vs. Lonestars): Editorial comment: The Lonestars' girls were very gracious at the awards ceremony and showed a tremendous amount of class, as did the coach and the parents. That Victoria duo on your team have some strong & accurate legs too. I was glad to see our girls still playing hard to get back in the game and tie it up, but it was just not going to happen. That goalie of yours had a great block on that upper 90% shot she knocked over the bar. I thought that was going to tie it up for sure.
Now that our season is over my Daughter can finally work on getting the lower half of her legs tan. It looks like she is wearing white socks when she isn't wearing any.
So can the NTX player transfer rumors in the other forum topics begin now with Regionals over, or do we have to wait till Sting wins Nationals now?
