05 JDL

Bigern, my comment that JDL=LH was made using this logic. There is a clear # 1 - DTS, but they moved up to '04 in the spring. Beyond that it's debatable but Kicks until now hasn't played in JDL. After that there is some argument about who fills out the top 5. A couple of those teams are in JDL a couple aren't. From there approximately 5-15 probably have some sort of rank order but all/most are competitive. So I agree to extent that JDL offers more consistent top level competition but it's really not as simple as that. Having 2 leagues has watered down both to a point where only the bottom of LH does not belong. Otherwise, week in and out games are more or less competitive. I've seen plenty of games in both leagues to know this is a fact.

What it comes down to with either direction you go is about the coach. Really doesn't matter what league you are in. Is the coach doing all the say they will do and all they should be doing. And perhaps a side preference of whether you like competing for something week in and week out (LH) or not (JDL)

Mornging Stabucks: $5 * 30 =$150.00
ATT 4G LTE/Data = 2 phones = $60.00 (unless you have more than 2phones with data)
Movie Channels: HBO NOW $14.99 + Showtime/Starz etc. 12.99 = ~$28

I get around ~$230.00 per month.

Would it?  Outside of their 05s and 03s, what do they have?  And I might assume some of their 03s and 05s would want to go the DA route (when available).  I'm sure girls would go there for the ECNL opportunity, but I'm just not sure LP is worthy of it at this time.  2-3 years ago, they probably were.  But they need to rebuild.  ECNL affiliation will help.

However, for the good of ECNL in NTX, it makes sense to add a club if 2-3 decide to go strictly DA.

So, either BigE was being a pompous ass, or he actually believes that the bigs cost only $200-$300 more than rec soccer per month, and that could be covered by giving up a couple movie channels (if, of course, you are really that interested to have your kids follow their passion and dreams).

I grant you that some of the top teams in each age group did participate in LHGCL this past year, but that won't likely be the case moving forward given at u13+ there won't be any DTS, Rush or Kicks ... and yes TBurger, I'd bet both 03 and 05 LP Elite teams are gone or are shells of themselves next year.  Outside of those teams are there any others in LHGCL that might be considered top tier?

As long as their is money to be made we will see the same players and the suckers on the bench..when the bigs can step up and be big boys like BigEm and quit playing the same players we see in JDL and LH I will start drinking that good Kool aid....buzzzzzzzz

We're all having a tough time deciphering this one but it seems you're saying that I'm a big boy, and FCD, Solar, Texans + Sting are playing the same players in JDL and LH ... and if if they don't do that anymore, you'll consider having her try out for a better team so that she might receive better coaching?  Is that close to accurate?  

... And you do know that playing in JDL costs the same as playing in LHGCL right?

I'm saying big em we don't know what teams are in the top 10...clean it up and then we can have a real conversation. Everybody knows this is all fuzzy math....it's all the same. Maybe one of these days it will be right. Go put on your big boy pjs and get some night night. If you want to promote JDL then don't show up in LH. Then you can call it second tier watered down rec ball. I am not a sucker from the hood.

Confused as to why you need to know who's in the top 10?  Top ten of what?  What math?  And please let me know which of my kids are still playing in LHGCL ...

This year is over.  We likely won't know about next year's sides til preseason tourneys in August.  We do know however, that at 05s (U13) and up, it will not include much quality at LHGCL ...
Top two teams from each of the bigs, Rush, Kicks are gone.  And it's very likely both the LP Elites are out or will be shells of their former selves.  Just reality big guy ... not sure why it's so rough for you there Sir.

I think LH, JDL, ECNL, whatever - we are all suckers. If you are paying $3k-$5k for your 11 year old to play soccer, you are a sucker. What, probably 90% of the kids playing soccer right now will quit or aren't good enough for a scholly. So what are we doing it for? Probably better ways to get exercise, build a sense for teamwork, etc. put that money in a mutual fund and use it to pay for school. But, we all want that high of our girl scoring a goal or making a great pass or being selected for JDL. Not judging any of you Bc I'm guilty as anyone. But don't be fooled, we are all suckers.

The experiences my DD has gained through playing soccer here in Dallas and around the nation. I would pay double and do it again if given the chance. With all of you that have a beef with the system their are a lot of those players and parents out their that would not have changed it for the world. Sometimes the market is what it is and fighting it just makes it negative for both you and your DD. Get out their learn the system, work it , and play ball.

Alllllll this....for our daughters NOT to make the national team.
For our daughters collegiate teammates to have played on a lower level and be awarded the same scholarship.
For our daughters to decide they'd rather be a cheerleader, play volleyball, run track, softball, and or have a steady boyfriend.
All these leagues and academies are for us parents to buy into and relay the "significance" to our children.

Im not denying that there wont be a star or two that will emerge from the NTX soccer landscape, but what are the odds? seriously....what are the odds?
