1) Both leagues have good teams and bad teams. I believe this tournament allowed us to see which league has the best good teams and which one has the worst bad teams.
2) Solar DA, FCD DA, Texans ECNL and Feet ECNL are very close. It is unfortunate that Feet matched up with Texans in the quarters, I would have liked to see them square off against Solar or FCD.
3) 05 Celtic did well and proved why they should be in ECNL. I believe their 06 team also made it to the Semis.
4) Energy struggled against lower level ECNL teams. For comparison, they tied FCD ECNL this weekend where TSC ECNL beat them 5-1 and they lost to Solar ECNL 2-0 where TSC beat them 3-0. I always root for Oklahoma teams but their style of play is not going to be great for DA.
5) USSF is ruining girls soccer by splitting up this talent.
Agreed and to expand on 3. Several of the non-DA-ECNL teams performed well. When I looked at the brackets when they first came out I didn't think any of these teams would do as good as they did.
Flight A
Celtics 2-1. 1 win over DA and the other over non-DA-ECNL team. Made it to QF.

Re: 05 DGIC
He once coached a u10 team to victory against the Mexican national team because the us national team missed the plane.
He quietly texts lineup changes to lw from the sidelines when the game is close.
He modestly asked fcd to name the stadium after Toyota and not himself.
When the Texans wanted to charge for parking at digc.....he paid them himself and asked that it be kept quiet.
While on his honeymoon with kw to teach soccer in Columbia they fought off an entire drug cartel with only soccer balls and corner flags.
In Las Vegas he drank all the other coaches under the table and had to coach all the Texas teams the next day because they didn't wake up on time.
He talked Lamar hunt into starting a soccer team while on a hunting trip.
Years ago when go99 didn't know there was a soccer board bige told him to get on it and just be himself.
While drinking at baby dolls he invented the FBR and wrote all the algorithms on a napkin.
He is the most interesting man in ntx soccer!

Re: 05 DGIC
My takeaway from this weekend was that nothing has really changed in the 05 landscape. Talent has not been concentrated anymore than it was last season, despite arguments to the contrary. Not in DA, not in ECNL. What I saw was talent still spread out all over the place. No one has a monopoly on the top talent. No one is training with the best talent in the age group day in and day out. Solar DA, FCD DA, Feet, Sting ECNL all appear to still be fairly even. These teams can beat one another any given day. All have a good core of players, and all have deficiencies. I don't see that changing in the coming season either. Some players may move from DA to ECNL, and vice versa, but overall, things will probably remain the same. Unless as someone pointed out earlier... DTS players decide to go DA route. If so, does Coach A go with them? I'm not sure this team performs the same w/o him. He seems to get the most out of them.

Sounds like this could be the greatest 12 yr old team to set foot on the pitch. Alert bige.

You will be sent home 0-3 and 20 GA. At this age and older if you do not have a good Keeper then you will not have a good record. However a good keeper is no substitute for a good def.
So I heard it actually happened.
A team, I believe someone said DTS, put a field player on goal with bib and no gloves, when their goalie was sick, and actually WON two games, one of them being a semi-final game.
KC, I can now claim that I own you.......................if what I heard is true.

ATP is right DTS uses this player all the time in goal. Good to have backup keeper. Plus she has keeper jersey and gloves.

It won't be as split next year.
Outside of that happening, the split will remain.
This weekend was a good showing for the DTS Girls and DT West team (which in MY,Not everyones) competed in the hardest bracket. Not so much for the DT DA team. A couple of parents did inform that DTS would most likely move to DA and DT West will move over to ECNL. Apparently, JD and GA were at each other other games this weekend evaluating the situation and maybe even players.
IMHO, there is no reason from DTS not to be in DA they are an amazing group. Looks like DT West held their own in a hard bracket vs Dash and Feet.

@KC, in the spirit of Easter Monday, I give it to you although I have been reliably told that the so-called 'back-up goalie' is technically a field player and haven't played goalie in quiet some time. DTS back-up goalie was out of town this DIGC weekend.
I give it to you that the player in question is really talented and can do field or goalie without missing a beat.

No I did not mean she was not a field player, she is. However she plays a significant amount of time in goal as well. At least from what I have seen and heard.Pele98 wrote:KeeperCommander wrote:Someone who has been on this forum as long as you have should be more informed.Pele98 wrote:KeeperCommander wrote:Pele that would be even more interesting to see at this Tourney. She was not a field player standing in goal with a bib and no gloves as my previous smartass comment was stating to be absurd.

Confused ......this player plays backup goalie with no goalie training. Years in goal? I don’t think so. She is a field player who every coach she has had reaches out to her as a backup because she is an all around athlete. But she doesn’t show up at a tryout for goal. No goalie jersey/kit.
