FBR09 Rankings May 29th, 2018
FBR09 will also include any 09 teams playing against each other in the 08 division. As long as the teams that are playing up are not using 08 players when playing against each other 09 teams.
Also, ranking points are derived from who you play and their tier(not your own tier) and, how well the teams you play do. FBR is presented as W/L/T not W/T/L. This FBR is the sole representation of FBR09, any and all complaints(and compliments) should be directed to FBR09. These rankings use the same software and criteria as with all prior year FBRs.
Feel free to PM or email if you think there is an error with your team or if you have any questions. GotSoccer is generally used to determine team name/coach/club, please message me of any recent changes.

Just my two cents
I think you hit the nail on the head. Playing teams out of your bracket can hurt you if the games are close. It is compared to how others do against similar teams. If you are playing silver or bronze teams, it will compare you to other silver or bronze teams.

The other thing that most people fail to consider is the games that fall off the backside of the FBR window are just as important as the new games. If a good win falls off and is not replaced with an equal win then your score will drop. Likewise a bad loss falling off will likely raise your score.

Either way, the top 5 teams are all great teams! Their coaches are doing a commendable job.

Re: FBR09 Rankings May 29th, 2018
I think the reality is that there is Rush then the next 4 (who can all beat each other on any given day) and then there is the rest after those top 5. I expected the “next four” to be tighter in their scores but Angelone is still 14 points off from Samba and two teams are still between them. How many times does a team have to beat another team to close a gap. South shouldn’t play in weak tournaments nor should Angelone but I’m not sure they should be punished for it either if they are both still playing top teams in addition. Not every ranking system will be perfect and FBR does a great job.
It’s just interesting to discuss.

There are lots of good teams on this list. The top 5 might be on a different level, but there are some other contenders that are starting to show up.

It looks like DTS only had 1 close game and the teams aside from maybe 1 were pretty weak. Look at their game history. Winning tournaments doesn’t help the ranking...it’s the games that do. The teams look pretty low level, so that won’t help the ranking.

Re: FBR09 Rankings May 29th, 2018
Soccergodntx,
Both Angelone and Scarfone lost to ESC once in regulation. Angelone lost to ESC a 2nd time in overtime in the semis as well and FBR09 decided after the tournament to change the rule that OT and PK losses would no longer be counted as ties and instead be counted as losses.
In that tournament, Colvin beat ESC, ESC beat Angelone and Samba, Samba beat Colvin and Angelone beat Samba... more evidence that 2-5 are interchangeable.
I’m enjoying the fun and cordial debate everyone!

To clarify, these rankings are only for NTX clubs and the rankings are only impacted by games against other NTX clubs in the same age group or older (beating the top 10G team doesnt help but beating a mid ranked 08G team could). Winning a Houston tournament unfortunately does not impact the rankings unless there was any game against another NTX team. (I had all the same questions about the rankings a year ago when I first started following, and I am still a newbie)
