But what's the proper etiquette for scoring goals in a showcase tournament? A coach shouldn't try to run up a score but if you force your kids to stop scoring goals in a showcase tournament, where scouts should be there watching the game, are you really hurting your kids by making them stop? I know there are other ways to show skill during a game but nothing turns heads faster than a ball in the back of a net. Let's say you have a girl that wants a scholarship but hasn't gotten interest yet. Shouldn't you let her score 6 goals while recruiters are watching if she has that ability? What's the correct etiquette for these coaches?
No college coach is going to be impressed with six goals on what must be the equivelant of an open net. That is just unfortunate to be in a showcase against a team so mismatched. Most scouts will just walk away because there is no way to judge a player's quality unless there are one or two stars on the losing team that they are interesed in.
I don't know if it is true but I heard Palo Duro was a late add when somebody else dropped out. That might explain why they ended up playing against some of the better competition.
I agree, it would not benefit anybody for one person to score six goals. In a game like that, the college coach would have already left to another field I would think. I know the Coppell coach came to the Carroll/Palo Duro game and left about 5 minutes into it. He was thinking Palo Duro was a CA team but soon found out otherwise.

Is this your idea of the rankings from the teams involved? If so, I would say #32 was better than #30. Amarillo was competitive against some good competition. I also think Grapevine would be ranked higher.

Correct, copied this off of sportsmobility site. BL is in a rebuilding phase with many freshman/sophmores on varsity. They played 3 of their games well but were dominated by FM during that game. Poor passes and got beat to the ball too much. Still very proud of their overall showing and ability to rally back after the FM game.

Re: National Elite Prep Showcase
Tie breakers in showcase games (GF then GA), so the bottom teams were basically tied. Working on strength of schedule and head to head, like soccertracking used to do it.MaggieMaggie wrote:JeffM wrote:u95g dad wrote:MaggieMaggie wrote:National Elite Prep Showcase
