I wouldn't want to be part of a team that the parents cheered when the coach was asked to leave. Very unsportsmanlike. What does that teach the girls. What the coach did was right. He was looking out for his players. For their safety. I think these refs forget they are reffing 10 year old girls. They need to be taught how to play the game now.
As a spirit parent I can see how the opposing team parent would think we were clapping as the coach was getting kicked out....I will not speak for ALL us parents BUT i will say this..I WAS clapping...And it wasn't because the coach was getting kicked out. It was because the lil girl that was laying on the ground crying finally got up. It all happen at the same time, Coach getting kicked out and hurt player getting up. So yes we parents were clapping , but that lil girl was getting up as..Perception on how one wants to look at it.....I was sitting right by the goal and the lady ref . Her and i had some words because I said that was some B S and she told me something and i said i wasn't talking to her i was talking to my family..Then she explained to me as she step to me I was on her sideline.....blahahah its amazing the Balls of some folks..Anyway after she figured she handled me hard she said that i should teach my child to kick the ball out if a player is down because they will not stop it unless it was a direct hit to the head or neck....Moving forward there will be a rematch and im sure it will be a good game but like im going to tell my child we got to more teams to play.. That was last week and now we gonna focus on this week and not just the liverpool team but the other teams we are gonna play...

We liked Spirit and were impressed with St John until the last two games. Like one poster said, if it weren't for the PK goal vs. Liverpool 02 Dalglish they would have lost and I believe would not have played Spirit - I believe Liverpool 02 Dalglish would have been in the finals.
Then I thought Spirit handled St John really well and Spirit, who as we said were impressed with, definitely deserved that game. Congrats to SPIRIT for winning that tournament and to St John for being a finalist.
Yep, Liverpool 02 Dalglish (Waldrum) looked strong...shame about the PK call. Would of liked to seen Dalglish against Spirit!

Yea... there was a TERRIBLE PK called on a clean take away in the Beardsley - South 04 game. I was told the call was so bad LW agreed. This cost South the ability to move on to the finals as a result of a tie with Beardsley.
What was more annoying is that my brother in-law said the parents spoke with the AR who agreed it was not a PK either. When asked why he didn't speak to the center ref as this AR was the closest to the "foul" he claimed he didn't have the authority.
This is of course false in that the side judge can always tell the center ref what he saw leaving the final decision to the center. The fact he didn't know this was what hacked the parents off.
Anyhow, the oldest ref in that crew couldn't have been more than 16.
Bad calls happen, it's just part of the game. Not knowing the rules... that's frustrating.

The person who assigned the referees for the XARA tournament is not the EAL referee assignor.

Never had any issues with referees in EAL. Love that there are 3 in EAL, hate only 2 like in SDL.

Couple points to clarify:
1) Liverpool's coach was warned in the first half by the HR to calm down as he was harrassing the LR on his side. The 2nd half ejection was due in part to his first half warning.
2) The officiating was a non-issue as the calls were terrible both ways - the game might as well been a naked scrimmage as the only call the HR got correct was proper throw-ins... note I didn't say proper possession.
I never like to see a player go down during a match, but the tackle was text book clean. I look forward to watching both these teams develop over the Spring season.
Best of luck to both teams in the Legacy Cup

All that to say that while I think we all need to watch how we comment on the sidelines on both sides of the field for most things, if the LP coach was worried about the safety of his players, I'd be angry as a parent if he didn't say something to the ref.
