Big fish, litle pond aside shuffling girls as the seperation starts to happen can be good for all of them. But what does spirit get? Maybe a opportunity to keep their top girls longer. I will explain how it will go. Texans, FCD, LP, Sting, will all start to field very competative teams and as spirit becomes less competative their top girls will leave for stronger teams and not just so they can win but so they can push their games further. But hey maybe the big clubs will thank you (probably not). Some teams want to play rase for a tough game. My DD has the opportunity to play them 2 times a week.

We are just happy to be here!
The dalglish/rase games are always competative and I would expect even more so now. It seems Dalglish has gotten alot stronger athletically. Both teams often end up trying to occupy the same space so its always a real tough fight for space.

Seperation and super teams are going to continue to happen as these girls get closer to select. After a couple of years in select you will see the better players leave the clubs and coaches that "developed" them to the clubs that can offer a spot on an ECNL team. Sit back, have fun, and enjoy watching your young DD's play.

I'm just curious, can someone please give me all of the recent examples of clubs that have formed "super teams" from merging two or more teams that were operating as separate teams?
Everyone talks about this like it's a common occurrence that happens all of the time, but outside of possibly Sting '02 that was formed from an amoeba of ~20-25 kids that were shuffling between a couple of rosters in academy, I am unaware of single case where a "super team" has been formed by a club merging two of it's own top teams in the '00's, '01's, '02's, or '03's...
Does someone know something that I don't?

Didn't it happen at Solar Red with the 03s awhile back? Not sure if it was two "super teams" per se, and it was certainly nothing of the magnitude of what's being discussed here, but I think two very good teams became one now seemingly unbeatable team, if I'm remembering correctly.

You maybe right. Maybe the '04 girl forum don't know of any occurrence. So if RASE and Dalglish form one team, can they be the next SRSA '03??? Hate to say it, but maybe it has been said already, what will the rest of the '04's do? How will they compete against them? I believe go99 has been trying to say this casually but without actually really saying "I told you so". Heck, maybe the rest of the '04 world will catch up.. If there isn't any merging of other clubs teams, I don't see where anyone will dethrone a RASE/DALGLISH team in the next few years.
Maybe this is why there is so much hate for LW teams.. Deep inside people know what's coming.. Just my thoughts

go99 wrote:didn't srsa have 2 teams and some shuffling of players?
Not that I am aware of in '01's, '02's, or '03's.
9/10 of the top '01 teams today are exactly the same teams that were in the FBR top 10 in October of 2010 (U10). SRSA Bates was #1 then, and is #1 right now. Heck, they even lost 5 players between U11 and U12.
Didn't happen in the '02's.
SRSA '03 was a single team last Spring, and with their success, has attracted enough talent to form a 2nd top team. That's the opposite of starting with 2 top teams and merging them to form a "super team".
go99 wrote:Also the Texans build a top team by bringing in the best players they can (rowdies). Didn't FCD just do a litle reshuffling of players to make its premier team?
Rowdies '00, '01, and '02 all transitioned to Texans intact to become the #1 Texan team. There was no "merging" of Rowdies roster with an existing Texans academy team roster to form a "super team". DT and DTS continue to field teams completely independent of one another as well, despite everyone predicting that the best DTS players will get poached to play on the top Texans team out of Ross Stewart.
go99 wrote:Didn't FCD just do a litle reshuffling of players to make its premier team?
In the '00's, FC Dallas didn't even have a D1 team this year until they convinced LP '00 Dalglish to defect last fall.
In the '01's, FC Dallas Grubb has stood on it's own as a top 3 team since before U10, and never merged with another FC Dallas team.
Same for '02 Grubb.
In the '03's, FC Dallas has had two top 10 teams in Premier and FCD East for a year now. Everyone is predicting a merger, but no sign of it yet.
Are really good teams able to attract additional talent to become even better teams? Sure. But everyone keeps talking about clubs "forming super teams" by merging/poaching players from other teams within their own ranks, suggesting that it's a plan put forth by the coaches and/or DOC from the club. The net result being a powerhouse "A" team, and a weakened "B" team (or no "B" team) out of the remnants. Again, outside of the Sting '02 group, I just flat out don't see any evidence that something planned and predicated like this has actually happened in the past 4 age groups, and while Sting '02 is clearly a good team, they clearly aren't a dominant "super team".
Now, I will grant you that TFC '01 tried to do this by merging with the Princess Warriors independent team a couple of months before QT, but the resulting team didn't do any better than the original TFC '01, and to the best of my knowledge, most of the PW players that were part of that merger have already left TFC.
I've also heard anecdotes about one of the clubs (I think it was Sting) trying to build a "super team" by merging two of their top teams a few years ago. Same result, the merged team had lousy chemistry and imploded.
So even in the relatively few instances where it has been tried, to my knowledge, it has fallen far short of the desired result.
Clubs forming Super Teams seems to be more of an urban legend than an actual process to me...

I got it. There is no such thing as a player pool. You just have to be on the top team at 9 because players aren't moved around. Guess my DD can kick back and relax because she is already on RASE and she can just coast into select on the top team

PDub wrote:Good points above. From what I've read, I don't believe LW teams are looking to be dismantled. go99 mentioned RASE only has 12 on the roster. So unless talented girls from other clubs jump on the opportunity to get on RASE, I believe LW will look in house. That being said, LP Dalglish will be the next logical team to look at first. Anyways you put it, it looks like merging of teams will happen prior to select. Whether its a strong team or not, only time will tell.
Nope apparently RASE will go into select with 12. Maybe we can grab a few kids from rec to fill out the roster

Re: 04 Human Rankings
As the kids get older and are entering ECNL is where the consolidation is more likely to occur. I would think it foolish for any club to restrict their player pool at 10 years old entering select. The clubs that will be successful will give girls on the 2nd or 3rd team an incentive by enabling them to move up if their play warrants it. One the flip side, in order to keep developing the so called top team, its players need to understand that there are other girls who want to be where they are and in order to keep your spot you need to continue to work hard.

It happens. I have to correct some of gopher's analysis at least with regards to the '01s, as I was paying attention before he was.
For SRSA '01, they indeed had two teams in Academy.....an A and B. They took the top players and put them on one team, and then later recruited several of the best players in the age group before u10. The "B" team never materialized and far as I know those players scattered. I don't think anyone would argue they didn't form a super team at u10.
For FCD Grubb '01, I seem to recall they did the same thing. They had an A and a B team in the early Academy years, but from the outside looking in more of the B team girls made it on to single top team when they started 11v11.
Kicks '01, same thing. Had two groups of girls on Kicks white and Kicks gold. New players started out on white and moved to gold as they got closer to select. Both teams made it to select, but Kicks White ultimately was formed largely from recruited players new to kicks. Kicks was unique in that they are the only one where the "B" team is still around, and they were the only one with players good enough to start on an "A" team, but who stayed on "B" for sake of development.
Sting '01 Flanagan, same thing. Sting didn't have a top 10 team as late as U9 because Kat took alot of players to mustangs. They brought in Flanagan to build something Sting worthy before select. He had a huge pool of girls show up and built the team around a few standout players. They begin to have some success by end of U9, but were not considered a top 5 team at the time. He continued to recruit heavily while eventually whittling down his pool at u10...ultimately forming a top 3 team by u10. Flan went after several of the same players SRSA was after...if they'd all signed with Sting he would've had the super team, and after perennial pruning he's probably 3 to 4 players away from having a super team now at u12.
None of these teams merged wholesale with another single team, but they all actively recruited the best players they could before and after U11 QT.

But the big difference is that LW starts building superteams at 6 and 7 years old. For you to act like RASE is not LW's own personal superteam is just moronic. You are trying to sell everyone on the idea that LW took a group of rec girls and developed them into some great team. The reality is that he had 15 Liverpool teams to pull girls from. In addition, he was out recruiting harder than any other coach in North Texas.
He is a recruiter not a developer. That is a fact.
It's no secret that LW has put 100% effort into building a superteam in each age group. Many RASE parents and Liverpool coaches will readily admit it. Do you think those RASE shirts were just coincidentally given to the top LP team in each age group? Dalglish is his "B" team. If you aren't good enough for the Dalglish "B" team, you are shipped down to another coach. I know of players that were shipped around to so many different LP teams that they finally just left the club.
If being on the top team strokes the ego of you and your coach, then more power to you, but enough with the BS.
If you want to see a team that has real development, then look at Texas Spirit. That coach has run circles around what LW has done. Heck, almost all of the LP coaches have done more actually developing than LW.
RASE 04 could learn a thing or two from the RASE 05 team. Have you ever noticed how no one ever says anything bad about the 05 RASE team? Why do you think that is? It's because they do their talking on the field and don't constantly bombard this forum with an agenda. They don't gloat, they don't brag, and they don't run down other teams and coaches. But maybe that is because they have a different coach.
You are not SRSA 03. Get over it.

Oh LW must have pissed in somebodies kool aid. Definitely have some issues to work out. You are barking up the wrong tree with the no development though. My DD did come out of rec years ago and has only been with one coach for her entire academy career. Turned out to be a pretty good player. Believe me I get it you don't like RASE and you don't like LW maybe even liverpool. You can try and blame it on whatever excuse you like that makes you feel better about yourself. Most people could care less about the rase shirts, or their"top" team or not top team. What some other team is ranked or what they have done. Most people are too busy doing their own thing. Working on their own accomplishments. But there are those that look around at others and experience anger and resentment. Not sure what happened to get you to that point but believe me I get it. It will be okay just try putting that passion into something more productive.
