Blank77 wrote:Confused, how do you qualify for LHGCL D1 at u11 and U12 you are in PPL?
The team PD is referring to is the team that was Solar Gold '01 at U9 and 1st half of U10 - then moved to Texans and became Texans North '01 for Spring season of U10, and qualified D1 Supergroup at U11 (beat D'Feeters in the QT to qualify on the 1st weekend). The core of that team is now Sting '01 Hilton playing in LH D2 at U12.
The current Solar Gold '01 that plays in PPL is a different team that didn't form up for at least 1 or 2 seasons after the "original" Solar Gold '01 moved to Texans at U10.
The infamous "Tall Grass" tournament was the TFC Jr. Blue cup in the Spring of U9 for the '01's where Tx. Spirit North beat then Solar Gold by 1 goal in the finals. SoccerTalker (at that time a TSN parent) came on the board and basically complained that the tall grass (which WAS tall and WAS causing havoc with ALL of the players because it was slowing the ball down so much) affected TSN more than the other teams, because they were a much faster team, and that's why TSN didn't win the tournament by a wider margin.

Actually although it does not look like they won a game Saturday- on Sunday they appear to have won a consolation match. That said it looks like Kicks would be more of a team to beat than LP professes to be. Kicks also combining teams? Who is their coach and where do they practice?

Re: For Advanced '07 Players
The team's focus is being to be redirected to 7v7 play and away from 3v3 play. It turns out winning every 3v3 tournament does not translate to the big field.
Great weekend, though. Hope to see Kicks again soon

I know they had two 08s playing (so says the coach as they were receiving their medals) so i dont know if you would consider that combining...i think they have their practice schedule in a previous 07 post.

The Real Decoy wrote:Correct, the combined LP team didn't post a win v the '06s this weekend. The team pulled out of a 3v3 the night before and put together a team at the last minute. Not too bad of a showing considering the team does not play enough 7v7. Kicks were great, as always. To hold them to a 4-3 loss and hardly play 7v7, and two of the Kicks goals came on PKs, it was satisfactory. LP also tied the undefeated team in bracket play 2-2, who had beaten kicks 4-3. LP Played that Sting team again in a semis rematch and lost by an own goal, so don't take things out of context.

Didn't you just post a few weeks ago that your team was the PSA Champs? I thought PSA played 7v7 / 8v8 or something like that?

Don't be that guy.. or mom. You're belittling a team of five year olds who were in a tournament as a 7v7 team for the first time, against '06s, and kept each game very close. Is this where I make the "I'm a MAN! I'm 40!" rant?

Well maybe they didnt think their little ones could not get it done against 07s unless they threw out some intimidation tactics of their own.

LP 04- definitely an age group LP owns
LP 05 - good representation for LP. I would say DT are at the top though
LP 06 - no 'unofficial ranking' out on this age yet, but I would say no team in the top 15 at least. (Perhaps Andro and Skeets working on a merger to LP)
07- way to early to tell. Good that you guys have a head start on everyone else, just a little too much over-selling for my taste. But good luck to you and your team.
Liverpool 06G Barnes cleaned up in PT Gold and have never lost a game indoor or outdoor so I'm thinking they might creep in your mythical top 15. If not, I'd be interested in seeing who's included in that list.
Let's add the LP 98G & 00G girls to the list -
State Cup Champions
What happened to the ECNL clubs?

What happened to the ECNL clubs?
According to the ECNL schedule, three of those clubs (D'Feeters, FC Dallas, and Sting) top '00 and '98 teams were playing ECNL league games during the 1st weekend of State Cup. Don't know about the other two clubs, or to what extent any of those clubs have players that are dual rostered to ECNL/USYSA teams, and would thus be eligible to play in State Cup.
