Thanks Cerv! We got back on track today with a solid 5-0 win. I think the girls were putting too much pressure on themselves with Surf Cup riding on this weekend. Our parents tried to have a fun relaxing day to get their mind off soccer yesterday and they looked much better today. Perez, it’s going to be fun in Cali... hopefully we can represent NTX well but no matter what, we are going to have a blast and create some cool memories for our girls. Congrats to all that earned D1 today! Good luck next weekend to the rest!

No surprises in qualifying tournament.

Will they re-seed the remaining teams based on this weekends results? When should they publish the schedule?

The managers powerpoint says by July 30 the second weekend schedule will be published. It should be reseeded based on the first weekend's results give or take. Shouldn't be too tricky to figure out who will end up where.

Round 2 brackets out. Predictions for Division 1 and Division 2?

My guess for bracket winners, but not breaking out by Div 1/2:
A - Sting Spence
B - DKSC Garfia
C - Solar Austin
D - Solar Paul
E - FWFC Valcik
F - DT White
G - Renegades Saldivar
H - FCD Central

Bracket D was the hardest for me because there is no standout team.

Group D seeding doesn’t make any sense, especially when you look at group H. The 4 group D teams had a total of 2 wins in Round 1 between the 4 of them... two 3rd place teams and two 4th place teams in one group. Head scratcher for sure. Seeding of group H is disappointing. Of the returning teams, the 3rd and 4th highest point totals (32 teams) from round 1 in the same group... Sigh.

C - Solar Austin

Outright shocking FCD Tallal did not get the number one seed in any bracket given their performance in week one, junior classic league and FBR. Doesn’t seem to be any place to hide here.

Wow, looks like they mostly used original seeding instead of factoring in last weekend’s results. I picked 2 per bracket. Not sure which will end up in D1/D2 in most. Should be some good games this weekend! Good luck everyone!

Renegades Salivdar has a very strong showing last weekend. They missed winning their bracket by 1 point. They were seeded second in their bracket. Weird! ‍

Exactly melashbrew! It just seems like this shouldn’t be that difficult... fairly simple, actually. Either reseed based upon Rankings or Round 1 results. I feel bad for the girls on teams affected by this stuff... these kids work so hard training year round, to only have it come down to a tough draw and a bad bounce. It’s been this way for many many years so I guess it will never change.

I’m also scratching my head on some of the decisions. There were seeding decisions in the first round that didn’t make sense to me. So, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised there are some seeding decisions in the second round that don’t make sense to me. Nevertheless, the schedules are set and good luck to everyone fighting it out for the final spots.

This whole process has been a mess, really. Starting with the disaster that was fall and spring with all the rainouts and missed games. The Tut was a mess, and now qualifying. Time to unseat the old guard.

100% agree. Clearly I love my DD's team and we had a bad weekend in round 1, but because of seedings there is a good chance that we end up winning our group and likely end up in D1. But if I'm honest we are a D2 team. Which means there is a D1 quality team that will possibly not make it. Granted the games still need to be played but we all have a decent idea of the level of play of these teams. I was actually shocked to see our group.

The Round 1 groups weren't perfect but they weren't that bad either. The Round 2 groups are just horrible and it really looks like no effort at all went into creating them.

Tallal acts insane during qualifying and has harassed the Lake Highlands officials behind the scenes for years when he disagree's with placement. Which is every year for the past 5 years. I know for a fact he sends pages of irrational rambling emails year after year during this time frame. Then gets highly upset when they CC in his bosses.Accusing them of being "threatening".

I think at this point they do it on purpose because he isn't liked.

I think round 1 was good IF they were trying to make the brackets as competitive as possible and not give the top seeded teams an easy pass into Lake Highlands.  
Round 2 bracket D is borked.  I know GF, GA and Pts don't tell the whole story, but here is the breakdown of D and H.



FCD Central and Solar Paul should be swapped unless they specifically didn't want two teams from the same club in the same bracket. But then Bracket B has two Texans teams...I think the LH folks just said good enough and threw their hands up.

Don’t get me wrong, Ginger... if your girls earn D1 they shouldn’t apologize to anybody! They can only handle what they can control and beating the team across from them is all you can ask of them. Its a life lesson... life isn’t always fair but when it throws you a bone, take it and run! It’s all good.

Keep in mind there are only 6 spots available for D1 since you have the auto qualifiers Solar South, Solar Colvin, and Dallas Texans Scarfone already in D1.

bigballer is right... a couple of group winners will not get D1 because they didn’t get enough points. All teams need to try to win every game and not settle for ties even if a tie would still win the group.
