But who will be the DT team out of Farmers Branch? HYPPIA maybe?

Quite honestly your ride is just beginning, make sure you have a coach that has navigated these waters before, otherwise it can make for a very bumpy ride.
Excellent point. Teams who are getting experience with their select coach earlier than others have a definite advantage.

Ah, wait a minute. My coach said he would be with the team forever.

Tatonka and GTS - what specific advantages do you think these lucky teams get? Is it just continuity, view from the 50K foot level, experience, etc...? What are your thoughts?TatonkaBurger wrote:GrandTXSoccer wrote:

Top 7-8 teams should not have an issue beating any of the teams in their bracket. Wann would not want to (by some miracle) beat Solar and up in D1 just to get their butts kicked every game.
'04G FBR #8 beat FBR #47 yesterday . . . 1-0.

Yes and #16 beat #45 7-0.
The odd low-scoring non-massacre isn't the norm.
Re: If the 05's qualified this year
The biggest advantage having a coach that's gone through this before is understanding how to keep your team together (if it's worth keeping) or how to build your team up to give you the best possible chance to accomplish whatever goals you've set forth. I'm a big proponent of not every team setting their eyes on the LH's prize. Some teams are much better suited not worrying about LH's and just getting ready to play in Plano or Arlington. However if your coach has never gone through this before they may think that it's LH's or nothing and be working towards a goal that's really not in the teams best interest. The worst thing that can happen is that you make LH's when you probably really aren't good enough (sometimes you can catch lighting in a bottle on one of these QT weeks) and you spend the next year getting pummeled and at the end of the year the parents are all pissed and the kids loathe soccer and poof your team is gone.
I'll be completely honest, if I had been a coach for the first time going through all this stuff I'd be lost as to what I was getting myself into. Far too often you get first time coaches/parents that go into this thinking that we are all one big happy family and we want to keep the girls playing together forever and ever. Now if you've had that talk and EVERYONE buys into it (not just pays it lip service) that's great but realistically LH's probably isn't the path for you.
Here's the easiest way to look at it. When you go to a restaurant and order your meal, if you are given the choice of a chef that has been cooking at this place for years and has a history of putting out great meals OR you can choose a chef that just started and once he/she decided to cook bought a book of Amazon titled "Cooking for Dummies" to help them learn. Which one do you think you are more likely to get a quality meal from? Most likely Chef A but you can always choose Chef B and hope for the best because maybe he/she is a natural. Personally I'd chose A but I'm picky that way

Just an fyi 05 Marvericks Elite is now Liverpool 05 Girls McManaman. Same coach Candi Wann. Very exciting team with a bright future.

From looking at the '03s and '04s there will be a lot of movement in the 05 world this year, but the end result seems to be the same: The majority of D1 LHGCL teams at U11 were ranked in the top 20 of the FBR leading up to qualifying.
Even now, as the '03s are getting ready for the second week of qualifying for D3, the teams most expected to make D3 are the top FBR-ranked teams from over a year ago that missed out on LHGCL the first go 'round.
So yes, a team may blow up or drop from 8 to 15, but for some strange reason, the more things change the more they stay the same.
*** OK, I went back two years in forum time and found the '03 FBR for the summer heading into U10 and 14 of the top 20 teams from that time made D1. 2 more of the eventual D1 teams were ranked in the top 25.

Did Gutierrez steal them? I know she's looking for a team to fill out Sting Black.

It is probably more like 2 but could be 3. I hear that there is a second FC Dallas Premier and definitely 1 but could be 2 Texans teams coming together.

Lakedad,
Are any of these teams the new ones you predicted would be in the top 10 by qualifying next year?
