Solar Coaches Not Being Paid??

Heard a rumor that Solar has not paid coaches complete salaries for LAST month???

This is not a rumor it is all true.

What did they really do last month anyway?

Talk about ineptitude. It sort of reminds me of a headline from last year.

Former head of Dallas’ Solar Soccer club indicted on charges he stole $800,000.

They don't even have any fields to lose, do they? What's their issue?

they used coaches money for top dirt for 50 acre sight out off 121 some where that's right the coaches money was for dirt

How can they afford to build a "State of the Art" facility, but not even have enough cash reserves to pay coaches???

The former chairman and president of one of Dallas’ biggest youth soccer clubs was indicted Wednesday on charges that he stole more than $800,000 from the Solar Soccer Club.

A grand jury indicted George David Ringer, 58, on two charges of theft and misappropriation of funds. In a bankruptcy filing last year, Ringer admitted owing Solar $900,000 — a debt he wanted a federal judge to cancel.

“What is particularly unfortunate about this is that a good portion of the money that was embezzled or stolen came off the backs of hardworking parents and kids working concession stands at various soccer venues,” said David Finn, a member of the Solar board whose son has played for the club for five years.

Reached at his office Wednesday, Ringer declined to comment.

Ringer, a lawyer, headed Solar Soccer from 1996 until early last year when club officials started questioning his handling of the association’s finances.

“We asked him, ‘Where is the money? Where did it go? Where was the authorization?’” Finn said.

Not good news especially at the start of June when players might be considering joining the club. How & why does this happen and shoudn't the coaches be upset?

Hi, I know it is always fun for people on the board to bash clubs, teams, coaches, parents (and whoever else we can find). This little tempest in a teacup though seems to be made of a lot of conjectures. Why not go to the source, Solar, and ask what is going on. They will respond. If any of you have ever bought a home and had to be sure you have enough funds showing in your account prior to close, you should understand the situation.

I don't believe that there is anything sinister involved (other than perhaps amongst us peeps on the board).

And so if you're a business owner and buying a home and you're short on cash? Do you withhold paying your employees for a month or more so that you can close on your home?

I'm normally very much against all the coach, team, club, and league bashing that goes on here, but equating a soccer club not paying their staff (many of whom desperately need the money) to a home buyer having to juggle funds for closing, is just wrong. What Solar has done here is morally and ethically wrong, unless they went to the affected parties and got their permission first.

Do you think they did that, or did they just take the action, and tell everyone, here's what we did, hope to have your money soon?

I know the answer, and I suspect you and most here know the answer to that, too.

Well, it is certainly a catch 22 event to be sure. And I understand why a coach would be frustrated - even angry. I still believe that my thoughts are correct - whether it is right, wrong o r indifferent. Best regards.

Would you feel that way if you relied on that pay to make ends meet and to feed your family and your employer decided not to pay you because they were purchasing something? I don't know of anyone, besides you, that would be okay with an employer unilaterally withholding pay with no notice or consent.

A lot of coaches, like many in America, live paycheck to paycheck. Solar's actions affect more than just a few coaches, they have families to support, too.

Where's all of the word about the Solar coaches leaving in droves? Where's all the advertisements on the board for "Club/Team X - Coach Z (formerly Solar Y - Coach Z)" looking for players?

If I was relying on that paycheck to make ends meet and I hadn't been paid in 2 months, I sure as heck wouldn't be sticking around, and as much as I may like the kids and parents on my current team, I certainly wouldn't put keeping the team together ahead of putting food on my table.

Yet we aren't hearing about all of that movement???
Something isn't adding up 100% here...
